XL XR difference

What's six months behind the times between friends
Just seen this thread
The XR tappet clearance is twice that of the LM.
Could be nothing.
Could be the metals used have different expansion ratios.
Could be the XR runs higher revs, bigger gap to reduce bounce.
Could be different heads.
Could be different rockers
Could be soooooooooo much!

Just chiming in to repeat what others have written...

I've ridden and owned XR's since 1981, and have owned an XL since '87. Hondas are renowned for their non-modularity. Practically nothing plugs and unplugs from one bike model to the next.

I was amazed at the interchangeability of various Triumphs when I had one for a while, but not so for Hondas. Sorry.
