I bet one of you Chuckleheads knows exactly what make and model that carb is. I don't even have a clue.
4500 series Holley Dominator carburetor. Not the street car guys choice for drivability. A 950 cfm 4150 series would be a good choice for over 400" and 500 hp imo on the street. We have 2 950's on Dads drag car.

No but on the wrong combo could steal the Thermobog name.

I prefer mechanical fuel injection. That way big brother can't track your usage.

Sorry, Ropemeister, but your E-21 323i had Jetronic-K injection (electronic/brain)

The tii had a tiny 4-pot mechanical Kuggelfischer pump running from a belt off the crank supplying all 4 cyls. The only thing electrical on the tii system was the tank's supply pump

Still, had we been buds 20 years ago you would not have sold that 323i

Anyone know why Messerschmitts could fly inverted and P-51s couldn't (for long) ?

Dang I forgot--you told me a while back that my old 323 had EFI. Pretty slick for 70's auto tech...

I'm guessing because the Me109s were injected and the P-51s were carbureted. There was some superb engineering in that DB605 inverted V-12

I briefly had a dookie-brown early 73 911T with MFI. It was way more powerful than the k-jetronic version but it ran like shit and we never could get it tuned. I think it turned out to have the wrong fuel distributor but it also had about 100 little linkages that had to be adjusted. My dad re-sprayed it guards red before we sold it.

Like this but crappier and with an engine sometimes.

We had a 2.7L MFI race car at the shop built for the CEO of a large auto parts retailer that was OMG fast and got about 4mpg on pump gas at the track.

Cool, I never knew they had a bigass Marcedes engine in 'em.

"While the Bf-109 was being blooded over Spain, its capabilities were also being demonstrated to the world in Switzerland. At the Fourth International Flying Meeting, held at Zürich in July and August 1937, Bf-109Bs won four first prizes. Back in Germany, the Bf-109V-13, using a boosted 1,650-hp version of the Daimler-Benz DB 601 engine and flown by Hermann Wurster, set a landplane speed record of 379.8 mph on November 11. Ernst Heinkel, whose He-112 was rapidly losing ground to the Messerschmitt, responded with a sleeker design, the He-100. With German fighter-inspector Ernst Udet at the controls, an He-100V-3 achieved a speed of 394.4 mph on June 6, 1938, and an He-100V-8, flown by Hans Dieterle, reached 463.92 mph on March 30, 1939.
Not to be outdone, Messerschmitt undertook a major redesign of his basic fighter, producing the Me-209V-1, with a special DB 601ARJ engine that could boost its power from 1,500 hp to 2,300 hp for about one minute, bringing the maximum speed up to 469.22 mph on April 29. At that point the Bf-109 was in full production, and the Nazi Propaganda Ministry falsely designated the record-making plane the 'Bf-109R' (to make it seem like a less-radical variant on an existing fighter type), while the RLM barred Heinkel from trying to outdo the Messerschmitt. As a result, that official piston-engine speed record would stand for the next 30 years."

Even so, the P-51 still reduced 'em to a bunch a chuckleheads.
