Note that the Beta will install separate from the released version so you will have two BC's if you have v3.2.2 installed.

Cheers,
Dan, thanks I found it and loaded it and have started playing with it.

When learning something new like this I always try to find out the answers to my questions be searching around and even resorting to the Help feature.

But so far I haven't been able to figure out what corresponds to the Mapsource Detail level. I did find some sliding bars in the Display Option screen. But they didn't do what I wanted.

My problem now is that City Navigator does not display minor roads until I zoom down to .2 mi. In Mapsource it displayed them at 1 mi. I have a similar problem with Topos. Any hints on how to adjust this?

Just started playing with BC 3.3.1 for Windows. Try this: View>Toolbars>Detail Level. Check the box and you get a drop down menu in the upper left with map detail levels like Mapsource.

Thanks. That worked. I am getting City Nav minor roads at a 5 mile zoom. This will really be useful.

With detail at "Higher" I don't get any business symbols. They don't show up until "Highest".

BaseCamp v3.3.1 is now available.
I recently started BaseCamp Mac and was prompted to load the new version, which I did. But somewhere along the way, I missed the list of changes. So I had a look at the BaseCamp Win forum and read their list of changes. Comparing their list to my BaseCamp Mac, I see lots of differences. I understand that the two versions are different, but I was suprised how different.

Does anyone know where I can find the list of changes for BaseCamp Mac 3.3.1 so I can get a better idea of the differences?

Here's where that link takes me:
BaseCamp for Mac software version 3.3.0.2 Beta

and the Download link on that page is:

The download pages have not been updated yet. If you install the last-Beta, v3.3.0.2, it will automatically download the latest update (v3.3.1). When the update starts the install, it will show you the changes.

I'm looking for BaseCamp Mac 3.3.1 info, not 3.3.0.2 Beta.

Great Information

I have a Montana 650t. I like using BC to make a route using WP's. I'm thinking about purchasing the 24K topo maps to see NPS/NF roads and trails. Should I be able to see these on BC or MS?

If you don't already have BC-Mac installed you'll have to wait until they update the Mac Software Page with v3.3.1.

When a previous install is updated it shows you the "change history". Sorry, I just didn't copy it.

The BIG enhancements for me were:
  • Waypoint Categories - List's are now "Categories". So, you can create a group of "Category" lists and copy your waypoints into them.
  • "Any and All combinations" for SmartList's - if you have a large amount of data in BC, SmartLists are a very helpful feature for sorting and organizing your data as well as finding lost data.
  • "Detail Data List" is a Table showing all of the object is a List and their associated attributes.

There are even more features on the "to-do" list. Like "Where Used" for all of the other data besides Waypoints: the List/Category window in the Waypoint Properties shows all of the Lists where that waypoint is used.

Cheers,

Whether Roads and Trails show on a map is a function of the Map not BC or MS. Typically, there are more/better water features (streams, rivers and lakes) on the newer Topos as well as some (not all) Trails. As for backcountry forest roads, I've found CNNA 2012 to have as much or better detail than the Topo's - at least in the Pacific Northwest.

Cheers,
not sure what i was thinking.
thanks!
