Build and Use at Your Own Risk

Here it is as promised. Drawings for those skilled enough to machine one up for themselves.
Sorry I'm only offering the JPEG and not the CAD file. Easy enough for you to plug in these numbers anyways.

Please be aware that my dimensions were taken off my 2004 Adventure and the factory castings may vary from bike to bike. You may have to tune yours to fit if needed.

The one critical dimension would be the center distance of the triple clamp M6 mounting screws to the Steering Axel Axis. (30mm) This allows the Dampner center axis to match your steering pivot point. Measure to double check that these number match and you should be good to go.

Good Luck With your Build.

nice job!

Don't worry your not at any risk for posting the drawing, at the company I work for, we release drawings for obsolete parts on occasion, so customers can get it made if they really want to, What I would do is copywrite your drawing, if you haven't done so already.

Hi Motorfiets,

Will take a look and see what I can do.
I don't know if I can increase the resolution of the jpeg file saved.
Not an expert with this SW program as you can tell by my skewed drawing views.
CAD is just a handy 3D tool to sketch up ideas.

Hi pdxthmper,

No worries about copywrites because someone else came up with this design idea first.
All I am doing is sharing what numbers I came up with.

On a side note.

If anyone that has a different model and year of Adventure, Dukes, SM, or even SE, find any unique dimension feel free to chime in. I would like to make this adapter fit as many 950/990 models as possible.

Which post did you use? is it standard or also DIY?
I sold my dirt bike and have scotts damper on a shelf and dont really want to swap triples.

I am going to make cad models, drawings and get 5-10 made by a local machine shop. I think it could be done for about 175$+/- few $.
It will be anodized, with helicoiled threaded holes. I am getting a quote.
Pm me if interested.

Hi 666, (Is that you Satan?)

Yes. Its a custom made post that bolts directly on to the 2 factory thread inserts on the frame. You will see they have nicely capped them with plastic buttons that were a bleep to take off.

Glad to hear that you are getting some machined for those in need of one.

Curious to hear from those with 990 triples.
Not so sure if they can retrofit this to work for them.

Had mine Anodized over the winter with a whole bunch of other stuff taken off the bike. Never thought to install thread inserts because they would have needed more space for the larger insert diameter.

Hope it turns out well for ya.

Good Luck,

Could you send me step file?
Several dimensions are missing. Look at the red lines in the picture. Or just tell me what they are.
I can figure them out, but due to my current circumstances bike has to sleep away from home.
Thanks again

Top one is 1.000"
Lower one is 1.125"

Glad to see that you are digging deeper into making this happen.

I'll try to answer any of your questions but may be late in replying due to shift work schedule.

I got quote and it looks like about 160$ for 5, 140 for 10. Obviously some shipping cost will be added

I will finish drawings next week and will get ready for ordering.

So far I had several people interested.
