Looks like the guy who left the road doesn't have a lot of hack experience which is a bit worrying.

Oh my, apparently there wasn't any prerequisite for this.

Spoke to a friend with friends and relatives in Irbit and it seems that partying was more important than preparations. Offers were made by Sidecar Masters for training and the response was something along the line of "these things can't be that hard to ride". Fools and motorcycles always make for a dangerous combination.

When I took the decision to take delivery of my Ural at the factory, almost at 3000km from my home, I have no experience at all of Ural or with any hack, zero, not even seat on one, no test drive,... zero.
I read a lot, watch some videos with kids having fun on Ural, so I just kept in mind a very simple advice:
- to turn left release the accelerator(*)
- to turn right give some gas, just a little
And the most important: "be very careful, not the first day or the second but the third when you think you are a "Master"...
Today after 9000km I am still on my learning curve, recently I try it on icy roads and snow.

But I confirm Ural is not that "hard to ride", if you stay "humble" within the capacity of your hack and yours.

Next time they can try with new hacks instead of old second hands...

I don't think it's necessarily bad publicity for Ural if you look at the situation. They are using what appeared to be farily beaten up second hand bikes that may, or may not, have been maintained properly. I'm also with others that it doesn't really look like they did a whole lot of prep or thinking the trip through :)
