I finally trimmed down a few more RallyWV vids for youtube.

Check out the 14:00 mark in this SS8 vid to see Mike go by like I'm standing still. Keep in mind his bike wasn't running well which is why he started behind me in the first place.

It's true that, "you learn the most in the 15 seconds after you et passed by a faster rider."
I realized I was pussy footing into the turns and Mike was charging in and hard on the brakes at the last minute toset up the bike then rolling back on the throttle mid turn to accelerate out.

I wonder how a ski area could cope with that snow

true, but you got him back around 15:24. must've been when his troubles kicked in again coming up that long finish. that was one of my favorite sections. what kind of speeds did you hit through there?

I think 83.5 was my max on that stage.

I feel like I should have been going faster on most of this but the video makes it look easier/wider with infinite traction/longer visibility. The voice in my head still says to the guy in the video, "Pin it you pansy!"

Maybe if my office chair moved around like the bike does at speed and my cubicle walls were whizzing by I would feel differently.

yeah, I never really liked watching my videos either. seems entirely too slow. the camera doesn't have adrenaline coursing through it's veins to cloud its perception, nor does it care where the bike or rider go in the event of a nasty get-off, or calculate the myriad possible outcomes of racing at high speed over rough terrain where even the slightest miscalculation could result in disaster. the camera doesn't worry about any of that. it happily records what it sees without question. just ask that deer.

Video View.

Hey: I've been expermenting with "On Board" Motorcycle video since the early 80's. Starting with the "Brother Cam" , my brother on the back of my KLR650 holding a Video Camera over my shoulder then hooking up helmet cams to AA riders in enduros in the Mid 90"s, and sooner or later they all get "Boring". I think mostly it's the view. Looking ahead going down a trail, following others or blasting down a Rally stage is missing something.

Here's a clip we made a few years ago.

We don't do this anymore, but it was fun at the time.

I was thinking of setting up a rear facing cam at this years Sand Blast and "throwing a stage" waiting for the next rider to come along and video him.

Jack, if you want to throw a stage at Sandblast, I'd be happy to oblige you with making the pass video. ....call it retribution for the pass you made on me in the rain, stage 2, at WV when I was still figuring out where I was going.

Jason: Hey, I didn't say anything about a pass, I was thinking I would be able to stay ahead of the rider.

Actually, passing and repassing would make great video.

You don't get the chance to pass to often in RallyMoto, but if the opportunity presents it's self.....

Hope to see you at Sand Blast

friendly competition always welcome, Jack. Sandblast is the plan for now. still having a clutch slip problem, but short of installing an entirely new one, or determining that there is a larger issue, I'll be installing heavier pressure plate springs as the 3rd "easy fix" measure, with the intent of still racing the 426. JJ's been generous with ride opportunities in the past couple months that I haven't been able to capitalize on.

but that's still the plan. very happy to run with you on a stage for some good action video.

You may want to mount a cam on the side too, so you can get some video of me all wadded up in the trees playing with the squirrels and such...

John, 147

Looking forward to Sandblast. Smaller trees.

Hey: Actully I think the hot setup would be front and rear facing cams, then edit the passes to one clip. I tried to make a setup like that a few years ago, bought two used handi camcorders and bullet cams, but never got to use it. With the Go Pros and other options now available, it should be easy, I just dont have the $$$ I used to have to spend on toys.

To much on the bike footage gets old after awhile, you need to change views often in my experience. A combination of onboard video and some passing shots seems to help. Watch some WRC coverage and you'll see what I mean. Nothing worse than the same boring trail footage with the damn "let the bodies hit the floor song"
