seems like a guideline rather than a hard and fast rule, but I'm not the decider.

Is there someone I can contact to get a decision prior to making the trip?

Anders might weigh in but my sense is that it won't be an issue unless someone protests you after the event. I think the odds of that are really slim, most of the regulars could give a shit what you're riding

Bring it! You represent what this fun is based on. If we were all competing for big money we would be riding some other rally

If it looks like it wont fall apart on the road they will probably let it ride. They'd rather have the rider than exclude him based on how much plastic originally came with the bike. If it doesnt look like a sport bike, no one will know the difference. If you beat me, which it looks like you will, lol, I'll buy you a beer at the awards
There used to be a class for those bikes modified from stock, which they would simply bump yours into. Now they just class it on engine CC, so heck, I dont see why they'd let me run a GS with a VW engine in it, as long as it didnt have a sidecar attached. My point is, you dont have to have a stock bike to run, you can build one, which you obviously have, and at that point, whats a stock fairing? And even if it started off life as a ninja 250 or a honda rebel, if its looks like a dirt bike it'll probably fly. Thatsa lotta ifs and probablys but I dont think I've ever seen a bike turned down. Even Nestor way back at the first one who rode SAndblast, or most of it on a supermoto'd DRZ. AND of course Dave J, whos probably pressed the line farther than anyone

Perfect, I think I'm going to sign up. The bike should be sufficiently tested by then.

What type of terrain should I expect? There really weren't any good pictures

Once nice thing about this rally is the roads actually get better after the cars, they sweep a lot of the loose stuff off the road, as opposed to some of the other rallies where the cars just dig it up and make it looser.

Well I think I can handle that terrain. I did the TAT last year so I've spent days and days on gravel. I think the bike I'm building will fit the bill nicely.

I signed up, I haven't finished all the registration stuff but I am pretty confident I will be there. Just ordered 2 Rigid Dually lights and a Baja Designs 8" Soltek so it shouldn't ever get dark for me

Vacation days
I worked out my holiday requirements for 2012. I think RWV can fit in there.
