KLR 650 Sidecar

I just completed a sidecar build over the last two months. I can't figure out how to post the photos that are on Photobucket. Please help.

That's some industrial-looking piece of work there! Are those RIVETS? How cool! Look at the size of the aux fuel tank. Where do you put your right foot?

That's a KLR that drives to the beat of a different drummer.

Yes, we need more pics and more info.

Edit: couldn't wait so I went to your PB account and looked at the other pics. You're an Overlander guy then? Would like to see pics of the mounts and that whole area between the car and the bike. I love the water dish!

Sidecar

The cart is a welded box steel frame, with alum skin, stainless screws. The swing arm is off a klr 600, shock off my r12gsa. Cart has 7 mount points, two lower, two angle, two top, and one diagonal. The is plenty of room for you next to the aux can. On first 50 mile,3000 foot elev gain, 75/25 paved dirt road test it was a blast. Does not have the power of the Tiger, but more nimble.

sidecar

Got a little cold so I am on the computer a little more than normal. In case you are wondering, the cart weights 225 pounds, 175 of that is on the cart wheel. The cart has a place in the rear that has an alum pannel to stop the items from going foward. It holds a small Rubbermaid action packer, plan to use for kitchen, on top a medium side ice chest, can't travel without some Sierra Nevada's, can ya, and a small pack. The left pannier is small sizzer jack, tools, posible kit, and first aid. Will use the right pannier for clothes, etc. Nose piece has some space, will try to add Indy's camp blanket, and vest (when cold). Have a medium dry duffle for rack to carry tent, sleeping bag and pad. Thats about it.
Thanks to all the people on this site who post great articles and photos. They create ideas for others to make dreams possible.

How does the KLR rig compare to the Tiger rig you posted last year.

The reason I ask is I have a KLR/Sputnik and a BMW/Hannigan and I was considering the Tiger as a good in between bike to just have one rig.

But that is just crazy thought, who needs just one sidecar rig......

Tiger sidecar

Had that discussion with my wife the other day. By the way she is way supportive, no hassles. She asked if you only had one bike and used it also as a sidecar which would it be. I have at present a 07 BMW r12 Adv with 83K, a 98 Tiger/cart with 83K and a 2000 KLR650 27K (Which I bought new, sold it, went to two others and bought it back) with cart. I said I would sell the BMW (not good as a mule in my humble opnion), sell the Tiger bike, keep the cart, and find a (I think) 06 Tiger(low mile) and hook to the cart. Loose the KLR, even though, this thing has a lot of back road and off road potential. I would try to "negoiciate" two bikes.
It takes about 15 minutes to take off one of my carts, or hook it up, faster if my neighbor is around. So they work well as single bikes also.
