I missed the last one due to my work schedule, if I can get the time off I would like to make this one. I would have to find some good adventure tracks to get me there as I would not want to slab it all the way.

Been lurking these posts to find new places to ride, and might as well meet the other folks who frequent these routes as well. Count this as my "IN" for this event. Be riding my KLR650.

Did some scouting and a shake-down run of some new gear today. Man, it was pretty toasty out there. May might be brutal

I think Afry let his riding to the talking last time. He took that KLR to places where I chickened out.

Better to ride smarter and have fun in one piece than forfeit a good time due to a need for a cast or worse. I have been trying to scout some of these routes and it all looks very doable to me. Is this route going over some of the same terrain as "last time"? Where did you turn back on/go around? Mud, roks, big hills and the like? I hit up Nate Harrison Grade this past weekend and there was snow and snow runoff near the top and it was slick with some ruts that made it slow going for about 10 minutes. Haven't had a chance to check out th routes dow near Julian and that area.

I decided to skip Oriflame Canyon over concerns about weather, but they found a nice dry trail...mostly. Grapevine is a great trail with the exception of the sand near the bottom of the canyon. It was just one of those grin-and-bear-it sections, but it was still a blast trying to ride a hippo on ice skates.

Understandable. My previous motorcycle experience was dirtbikes, 250's and such, and it's an impressive difference being on a heavier and larger displacement bike in sand and on the dirt. Finesse on a skate adorned hippo is the key to success!

I don't seem to recall you chickening out of anything. Well, except when Danscape offered to show you how it's done.

While I was eating pie and drinking coffee with you and Danscape, the real adventure riders were riding Oriflame.
