Still impressed fromSir Edwards garden and is genius , the next morning I took off for tha Cascada de Tamul, the biggest of the many waterfalls in Queretaro and San Luis Potosi : 105 m high and (after the rainy season) up to 300 m wide
I rode all the way to La Morena where I had to take a small boat to go 4 KM upriver to get to the falls . In the moment I saw the river , I was it by his beauty and I realized in a second , that no matter how extraordinary human genius can be , compared to nature it will always be insignificant . If the human kind would understand that , we would treasure, honor and preserve nature in a proper way . These are the boats that take you upriver to the falls ![]() After the first corner the look of the river changed dramatically ![]() ![]() Strange rock formation along the river ![]() Twice the river got so strong and shallow that I had to get out of the boat and walk while the guys were pulling the boat with a rope ![]() Several small waterfalls at one side of the river ![]() And then finally after one hourof rowing the waterfall was in sight, impressive ![]() On the way back we stopped at some point and walked a few minutes up in the mountain ; there was a big cave filled with water, perfect for a swimm and to get away from the burning sun

The Sierra Gorda is one of my favorite places to ride in Mexico, and Xilitla is a strange town, and yes kinda ugly at first glance, but oddly compelling nonetheless. Are you heading through San Miguel de Allende?

She arrived
Finally last night , my wife Luisa Fernanda, flew in from Guatemala to join me on our journey .
She got off the plane in her riding gear , helmet in her hand . She had some funny stories to tell about security checks in the airport ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() She is a trooper , she just doesn't know it yet !

Last solo ride
There was something special about my ride back from Xilitla to Queretaro : It would be my last solo ride , from Queretaro on it would be 2 up .
I left Xilitla about 7 am with blue sky and the road soon started to climb up the mountains , the air got cooler and then close to cold , just the way I love it ! Soon I reached Pinal de Amoles , one of the highest villages in the Sierra Gorda , great pine forests all around ![]() On this road there are several old monasteries , all of them very impressive with a lot of architechtural details . The first one I came by , was Mision Landa ![]() From there I went on to Jalpan de Serra , small town with a nice plaza and an other mision, Mision Jalpan ![]() By then the altitude and the cool temperature was gone , but the road, view and riding was still great ![]() ![]() I had never had so many cars and even trucks passing me , the view just had me riding really slow and enjoying it. Pretty soon I came in the are of Penia Miller , the Semidesierto Queretano . Really desert like sceneries with desert like temperatures , 37 C

Julio, where exactly was the penultimate photo taken? Looks like my kind of taste in riding, along with the 3rd from last photo.
