Javalina entertaining the hikers before we depart.

The road to Mescal tank quickly deteriorates.

Once at Mescal tank, there was no apparent trail out. I went searching in one direction and Javalina in the other. While I was on what the GPS had indicated was the road,

Javalina found a weather station. We'll try that way.

A little hiking expedition and we found the way. Plain as the nose on your face.

DK, Javalina rides that 650 like it's a 250.

Naw, that was Javalina. He could ride a Harley up that, and still be laughing!

Actually, he did ride his KLR up that!

One last obstacle to conquer, the rocky downhill.

It is wicked steep!!

Great views of the valley.

Did I mention it was steep? How about rocky?

Eric was the smart one and walked it down.

At the bottom of the hill lies Cooks Ranch.

Slowred found a bicycle and goes for a ride.

Still being used, but a bit more trashed than my last visit.

18 easy miles of dirt road back to the trucks. Slowred's tire is again flat. Suspecting it's just a Slowleak, we put in 20 pounds and hammer for the trucks.

After this stream crossing, Eric headed back out Table Mesa to Seven Springs and Cave Creek.

We beat the Dugas gang back to the trucks. I wasn't expecting that!

We were starving! Off to the Road Runner for some grub.

A burger always tastes great after a long days ride.

Hot air balloon, a very common site in north Phoenix, highlights the drive home.

Just under 70 miles for the day.

We probably made it to the trucks around 5:30ish, you couldn't have been too far ahead of us.

Great RR Nightstalker! That was an awesome ride. Terrific views punctuated with insane hills.

The flat tire gods made me pay up for my previous good luck. Who has two flats in one ride? "This guy!"

Awesome Nightstalker!!!! Our ride seemed, well, o.k. it was, an endless boulder field! bout 20 miles of smooth and the rest was a constant pounding.

Javilina - refokus challanged me with the kick start husky-his exact words were "if the is a kick start god, javalina is it, he has kick my bike many times and seems 3 or less trys after i just kicked the crap out of it"!!!! Sure nuff, I kicked that husky so much it was overheating. Javilina comes over, 3, yes 3, i repeat 3, yes, i said 3 - KICKS and we have launch. I was impressed and imbarraced. My bike, i should be able to start it!!!!! Anyhow, thanks for that, you da man! Don't know how you did it/do it, but thanks man!!!!!!

Great R.R. night - looked awesome.

Great RR and pics gents. I think we ran into you guys early-on as you screamed round a corner, we waved an you guys pulled back to say 'ello?
We were a mixed group novices and old-hands in the dirt. Our route to Sheeps Bridge was a doozy with the rocky terrain and our big Tiger/BMW/KLR group took a beatin...but it was worth it.

Here's some of us on parts of the sameroad/sameday:

You've obviously got skills beyond me as your pictures show some nasty stuff. Glad you all had a blast.

Cheers

Nightstalker, I am sooo happy we finally made the loop so we didn't have to ride out of the Island the same way we came in.

It was a really fun ride, but I did beat my bike up a tad. Bent foot peg and a clutch that was slipping like crazy by the time I limped back to the truck.

Great ride, and great company!
