Tom was one of the first inmates that I met on this site. Although I was not fortunate enough to have met him in person, his passion for motorcycles and his "K-Monster" influenced my entry into sidecars (with Claude). He will continue to be remembered by me - I know that he will be with us again...

Just found this post today.

I remember trading posts with Sgt Brown on SCT a few years ago. When he was in the hospital I talked to Claude about him and asked for prayer support from the San Antonio CMA chapter, trusting that it would have a positive effect.

Sorry to hear of his passing and, as Claude states, trusting he is in a better place.

RIP

Howdy All,

Just spotted this thread today, never knew the man but his passing I am sure has touched many who share his passion.

Your riding point now Sarge, scout out some fine roads and trails to share with the rest of us when we catch up to you.

The news of Sidecar Sarge's passing is sad no doubt but we can all feel that

No one I have ever met had more will to live than Tom Brown. He certainly
overcame many health issues for quite a few years and maintained a positive
outlook in spite of things. He encouraged a lot of people and gave hope to many
who also had issues in life.
A few years ago we built a sidecar outfit for Tom to his specs. Some of you
may be familar with what he called 'The K Monster'. When Tom came to pick up
this creation he took the guys in the shop out to a local buffet. Tom was not
sure whether he wated th ebuffet or to just order off the menu and told th erest
of us to go ahead up to the buffet. We did this and when we returned to th
etable Tom said he decided to get th ebuffet also. He got up and went to the
buffet table while we began to eat. In a minute the waitress came over to us and
said tom had passed out at the buffet. We ran over and he was really out of it.
One of the guys began to do CPR on him and then an off duty paramedic jumped in
and took over.
Soon the ambulance came and took him away. Things did not look good for Tom.
When we got to the hospital his friends from Ohio had coame in. The discussion
in ICU was more on when to pull the plug on Tom. They had shocked him six times
to bring him back.
We all prayed for Tom and ten later went to eat at a local restaurant. When we
got back to the hospital we decided to head home and the other couple said they
would stop into ICU and check on Tom before heading to a local motel for th
enight. They had our phone number so they could call us anytime.
No sooner did we get home than the phone rang.I really did not want to pick it
up thinking the worst. I picked up the receiver and heard a voice on the other
end that was very happy. When the other couple went back up to see Tom in ICU
they found him sitting up and many of the tubes that were in him were removed.
He even told them the security code for his house back in Ohio so they could get
in without tripping the alarm off!! Miracle?? Man's will to live overcoming what
seemed to be insumountable odds? You decide.
This happened a few years ago. Tom went on to ride the K Monster and his
beloved Ural now and then. At the last RON DEE VOO Sarge was on an electric
sidecar rigged for him by Fly.
Yes, Tom has left us but in doing so he has also left behind something that may
help us all in one way or another. That would be his living example of the will
to live life at it's fullest despite circumstances that may tend to get us down.
Miss ya Tom! Better go fix some supper.
Claude
I just found this thread. I will really miss Tom Brown, the gentleman, the sidecar mentor. Beautifully put, Claude.

Godspeed, Sarge.
