Interesting rock. Round holes/strange shapes, not uncommon just have to walk rocky beaches on the West Coast you'd find plenty of that.
Even in creeks, what happens is that a harder rock works onto the softer one over time with the water action, looks made with a tool. I could show some really nice round holes but most of my rocks are buried under other junk. A little big maybe but....perfect shape for a sidestand!

Explain how it got in the field. Buried, at that. Probably be a good idea to take it to an expert. Local University, maybe?

My guess would be that it is a Native American urinal-portable for TeePee use. Then again maybe not.....

Don't know anything about the rock but why do you have a flipper door file cabinet below the worksurface? Doesn't that make it awkward to access?

Damn, this is so simple. It's a wine-grape press--small scale. You're missing the pusher piece.
Here's how it's done in Italy. The girls must be virgins, of course: ![]() And here is the American version. Hard to understand his lecture, unless you be from NC. Try not to puke starting at 4:37. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRfiEbnmuQg

I'm from Western NC... Dude is from EASTERN NC. There is a huge difference in dialect across the state. And their grape juice tastes like feet!
Still no positive ID on the suspect rock, but it appears to be a foundation stone. Thanks again to you all for your input! |
