I decided I don't want to go the Safai Tank route since I like the sleeker lines of the OEM tanks and don't want the bulk of the Supertankers since it's also my daily commuter bike. However I do want longer range from time to time on trips so I changed to 2-into-1 and the Adventure tank, 7.2 gal total, pretty good and tucked out of the way. Just right for local offroad rides, or staying within 250 miles round-trip of a gas station. However still not enough range for the long Way Up North stretches that can go 265+ mi with no fuel, and you may have to turn around and go back at times.

So... I needed to get into the 10+ gal club

Added 3 gal, now I'm at 10.2gal

(~350 mi at my worst MPG)

With locking hold-down

Need to go farther? Add Rotopax extension then add another 2 gal, 12.2gal

(~430 mi at my worst MPG)

or any combination of Rotopax tanks. Allows using my hard panniers or my soft Wolfman panniers set. If I don't plan to go 2-up I can move the Rotopax mount another 6" father forward for better balance. 10 minute swap to my commuter Givi top case.

Well, I finally got an Australian Post/USPS tracking number from Aqualine on my KTM 990 Adventure Safari Tanks drop-ship order!

Want to send a shout-out and big THANK YOU to Ben and Tom (not to mention our buddy CJ!) for helping to stick a white-hot poker under Aqualine's collective butts to make this happen for me.

If you need a square of gasoline resistant rubber to make a gasket so the tanks won't leak let me know. I've still got a bit left. The one they send es no bueno.

As I mentioned above, even though Aqualine originally said they'd be drop-shipping my tanks on April 5th, I didn't get my Australia Post tracking number till April 16th. Like a kid waiting for Santa, I've been checking the Australia Post tracking page daily... the status has been stuck on "TRANSFERRED" (what ever the hell THAT means!).

Imagine my surprise this wonderful, sunny, warm Monday morning in the Foothills of the Rockies when our friendly postal carrier rings my bell and tells me she's got a HUGE package for me (would have been worried had the mail carrier been and man and said that

)

"Who could it be knocking at my door?"

Rather than pull a Geek and spill gas all over the floor of my garage (see his Back in Black thread for the dirty details

), I'm gonna go ride all the fuel out of my stockers (or as much as I can without stranding myself somewhere).

Been itching to make sure I got a set this season and now I'm REALLY itching to get 'em installed. But, it's a Monday and clients are screaming for work, so they're gonna have to sit just a bit longer.

Yeah, the finish on these puppies is not what anyone would call "refined", but... they sure are GORGEOUS to me.
