The side car frame have a "ball type" mounting:
It means it is necessary to have a balls. The solution have been found - to take the ball sockets from VAZ-2101 or Niva. The ball have necessary diameter 30 mm (1.25"): |

Seat and backrest
.... stay original.
The guide from the down of backrest have been missed - the friend presented me the backrest also from Иж, but from later model and with the same guide. The guide was drilled out and welded on another frame. The frame was cleaned by send and covered by black matte powder. The covering was also changed on new one |

Side car wheel
The wheel for side car I took the same like bike have in front. I also ordered original axle from Honda with bushes and bolt. The axle looks like a tube and has outer diameter 20 mm. In case of console swing arm this axle will be weak. This is why we produced new axle with outer diameter 25 mm and changed bearings and sealing in the wheel.
Much better. |

Shock absorber
Does anybody have experience with shock absorber? I want to take adjustable absorber from classic type of the bike like Honda CB-400. In this case it will be necessary to change upper mounting of absorber in the frame.

Today installed and adjusted the frame of the side car. I decided to leave the bike in the workshop - the frame with wheel are too light. Tomorrow will install the body of the side car.
I had a very strange feeling today at the test drive.

My first 100 km with side car have been done. Tested on paved and forest roads. What can I say - I am happy and do not regret that I did it.
The small jobs necessary to do - adjust angel, install windshield, connect turn lights and tail light on the side car. One more side car |

Beautiful.
Well done it matches your bike so well. Shame the sidecar body is discontinued. Please enjoy the fruit of your labours.
Cheers, Bruce. |
