If you are referring to that previous thread about the shorter first gear to get 6 gears...The guy that I believed told me about that later denied it to someone who I referred to him and it didn't go any further than that. So we're still gonna need a brave case splitter with gear know-how to investigate to get a definative answer.

Yep, I just didn't know what rear BlitzBike was using, so I ran my 17/42 on up for curiousity's sake.

Regarding changing out the 5th gear on an LC4 (SXC same?):
http://ktmtalk.com/index.php?showtopic=107044&hl=5th

I quote steelhead from that thread:
Quote:
I ran into a guy down in Mexico with another SXC that said he dropped in the Duke "wide ratio" 5th gear into his SXC. Said it gave him more top end with sacrificing the low end.

Don't know anything about these Part #'s but this is what he said he used.
Main 583.33.008.006 27z
counter 583.33.011.009 18z

Aha! Now all we need is a case splitting Beta tester!! Could this be the holy grail of the LC4?

What I don't understand is how can a 27 tooth m/s match up to the same 18 tooth c/s which is in my box now? My original is 22/18.

There is apparently also a 21 c/s (part58333011007).
