maybe i am not getting this. you are looking for gearing changes to optimize your 640a for your style. you have a spreadsheet of theoretical numbers.

is there no need for actual values to ensure you are on the right track? maybe with all that hardware you ordered there isn't.

dey aint theoretical numbers... they be calculated. that spreadsheet gives exact numbers for my bikes tire size. other tires will vary, but all you gotta do is change the circ number.

i ordered a bunch-o-sprockets and chains to see what i like best for different rides. i'll prolly leave the really big gear on my dirt wheels, and a shorty on my road wheels, but i wanna play to see what i like best... me thinks the 17-38 combo may be a bit tall with the power the 640 puts out.

fly at 'er... post yer numbers. more information is always good.

gearing is like pussy... some like em tall, others like em short.... i like em all, but i aint takin trailer trash to the golf club... knowhatimean?

shit is starting to show up. i got a 16 and 17 tooth front sprooketty today... a did xring "atv" chain which apparently is really heavy, and extra master linkeses... rear sprockets should be here tuesday (fucking long weekends )... i got caried away with rears... i've got 38 to 45 coming... 5 or 6 in total... not sure... none are the stealth that i wanted.. i'll order that in the config i'm happy with later... another xring chain too incase one isn't long enough.

as an asside... i ordered parts from all over the place in canada. dirtrider helped me out with the front sprocket bolt coz nunbody had one here. the rest of the stuff had to come from like 5 different dealers... i gave a timeline of one week to get parts and nobody could get it all in a week. some couldn't help at all.

when i ask for all the hardware for the rear sprocket and the guy only sends me bolts i get pissed. he said he understood me, but all he sent was bolts... no nuts! one lesson learned... just because he says he understands doesn't mean he does.

let the playing begin soon

So I take it you'll be coming down here turning all of 3500 rpm... at 90 MPH.

well... i put on my 16 front, and 42 rear along with a new chain. i like the whole 125km/h at 5500 thing... there is no appreciable loss in acceleration. this thing still pulls fuckin sweet intersection long wheelies with a full tank of gas but i'm thinkin the 38 is gonna be way more fun for freeway cruising

now that i've done this... i have no idea why ktm put the 15 on stock. there is little i couldn't ride with this 16 in second gear. .... consensus is.... the 16 is for keeps!

next plan? 38 on my road wheels and a 45 or 48 on my dirties. i'll let you know what happens.

Mine is 16-42 as standard, but I have now got a 15 for the front for dirt use, I suppose I should re jet and stuff, still standard at 8000 miles.
