I`m sure there are a lot of us here that are keen to know the ins and outs of the bike when you get it, Locky.

I reckon Locky`s way in front before we start, he`s got a complete bike; all I have is a box of bits not long arrived from the UK, with a lot more bits to get.

Also, as I want a bike that looks good and goes well, I won`t be laying a spanner on the workings; I believe Locky would be a lot more proficient on the tools than my good self.

If I can get mine on the road towards the end of the year, I`ll be happy.

On a happy note, my Xchallenge is now is someone else`s hands, and should be wending its way through Africa later this year.

No Chicky, one last big run on the 1100. Ray will be building the bike when he has time to fit it in between his servicing of other bikes; he said he`s not going to rush it.

Only things done so far is checking out the frame etc that we got from the UK, all good; the subframe is straight with only one small crack.

I was keen to use an original BMW headlight, but Ray discovered the Britannia Composites, lynx fairing, which is expensive, but when the amount of money and work involved in buying the BMW stuff and fabricating a decent mount for the Acewell unit is taken into account, it doesn`t look so bad.

Have a look on their website and tell me what you think of the Lynx fairing.

Nice looking unit Dave.

I did a headlight Nacell replacement $425.00 for front back idiot lights & cover.
Headlight $180 genuine (didn't take that option)
Plus instument some $600.00 odd for a speedo (didn't take that option either)
I had all the mounting hardware already and that can add up pretty quickly too.

$540.00 canadian starts to look like good value.
Any idea what the assembly weighs?

No idea of total weight, the heaviest bits would be the lights and they come with a heap of brackets. I`m a bit worried about freight cost though, Ray bought two pairs of Hippo Hands out of Canada a year or so ago and they ended up very expensive due to freight.

The good thing about the Lynx is that it`s basically `plug and play`and has a dash panel for mounting speedo and idiot lights.

Acewell are waiting on delivery of new design units, so we`ll be looking at those first before ordering. We`re looking at having a unit without built in idiot lights as They can be very hard to see in daylight.

Nothing interesting to show, Chicky, just a pile of bits and pieces; there should be rolling chassis in the not too distant future though.

I don`t think Ray needs to do a dry build, as the bike will be pretty straight forward, and will be nothing that he hasn`t done quite a few times before.

Latest on the Lynx fairing is; apparently they have done one for an R100GS so the correct mounting brackets will be sent instead of a heap of `universal` ones.
