Drove along the Crooked today. It's in beautiful shape if anybody is a fisherman. Flies and lures only this time of year, but it's been fishing really well.
Depending on the farklefest progress on the new to me DRZ I may try to make it out as well.

If I can get a bike back from Reno in time for this...your farkles are no excuse!

I can loan you an XT350 just in case. By the end of the weekend you'll have one big leg from kick starting it!!!

Gentlemen, (uh ladies?) I believe I will be in.

And as a shameless plug, I'm working on a little Burning Man RR in day trips...lots of eye candy...get to it before Baldy pulls it down!

I'll be bringing a fishing pole for sure. Let us know if you know any good flies or lures (I fish both - Usually start fly fishing, then get pissed off when I lose a couple in the bank bushes, then switch to lures).

Reno? Pssh, please...I'm going to Vegas baby! If I manage to keep my money in my sock I'll be back by the weekend with the bike. Then again I could double down and step up to a high roller bike like the Dakar!

Farkles aren't going to be flashy but will include things like dirt oriented tires since the current owner has road tires on it, case guards, radiator guards, better hand guards, changing the jetting for altitude, etc. I've also got get my gear up to snuff and finances may not allow for that in short order since the bike popped up faster than expected.

For flies I'd think about small egg patterns (whitefish are finishing up spawning), scuds, caddis larvae, other smallish bottom crawlers, and small mayfly emergers and adults. Small black midges and midge emergers (as in size 20-22) can produce in the middle of the day. If it's overcast and calm then there is a great Blue Winged Olive (BWO) show from 11-3 or so. It'll start out with emergers, move to duns, and finish with spinners. I've had my best dryfly days on the Crooked fishing BWOs and my best nymphing days on either scuds or LaFontaine caddis emergers fished about 18" behind a split shot.

Alright then, Scott catches dinner. Either fish or birds from the bushes. 6 inches of snow here in Boring this morning. We need SUNSHINE soon.

I'll run it by Leenpockets today and see if she's in. Work really gets in the way of her adventure time. I'm in either way but I work Saturday morning so Sunday ride too.

Who would miss out on this?

Looks like a great time and I'm sorry to say I'll miss out. We are headed to Washington DC that week for vacation. I've never been further east of Chicago so I'm looking forward to it. We got in on the Capital tour but just missed out on the White House tour.

Drink a few for me

Not looking like I am going to be able to take March 30th off work. I'm thinking right now I might just slab it down there after work on the Friday night, camp Friday night and ride with you on the Saturday. That would mean knowing exactly where you are going to camp.....but this might be my only option.

It WILL be easy to find.
Go directly South from Prineville on Hwy 27, about 20-ish miles.
Do not follow signs to Prineville Reservoir when in Prineville, that'll take you to another area to the East.

Chimney Rock Campground is the 5th Campground you'll pass once you enter the BLM's Wild & Scenic River area.
It's about 1/2-way through the BLM section, which ends at the Dam.
Go into the Chimney Rock Campground, take a right to the end, and we'll be there.
You'll likely see our tents/bikes from the road before you see the Campground sign.

Download and print the map in this brochure if you want.
(it loads slow)

Dammit man! That job is driving you into an early grave Mark. Oh never mind, I'm sure you hate it more than we can even imagine hating it. Well, I have a very nice offer to be hauled there by a trailer. It's looking like this may be a viable option to putting on another 400 miles of 90+ mph. Not that there's anything wrong with that. So, unless I hear that others were planning on tagging along I'm taking the truck and trailer option. Leaving Thursday late afternoon and arriving Thursday night. Or so I think. Haven't firmed up the actual details yet.

Jeff, can you make it there by Thursday night? Don't wanna get all set up and have you roll in and say "wtf are you guys doing in this spot, we camp over there".
