I'm currently living in Bham right now and want to do exactly what you are doing. These winters are destroying my soul. Best of luck and I'll be following your journey. Ride safe!

Yeah man, you aint seen nothing yet. Just wait until you hit the mountains in Colombia, the Peruvian Andes, and the altiplano of Bolivia. Epic stuff.
The best map of Mexico would be the Guia Roji. Its an road atlas type book with plenty of detail. Sanborn's should have it. A few places I would hit in Central Mexico for starters would be Durango (via the Mex 40 libre from Maz), Zacatecas, Guanajuato, Real de Catorce, San Miguel de Allende, all colonial gems. I wouldnt stick to the coast, you would be missing the best of Mexico by riding the coastal route. Maybe hit some places on the coast in Michoacan like Rio Nexpa, or in Oaxaca like Zipolite if you need a beach fix. Both are great places to chill out. Depending on how much exploring you want to do, you could spend a very long time in Mexico and not get bored with it. Buen viaje.

Thanks for the recommendations Crash Master, actually your RR was one of my favorites, I took a couple of notes, read the whole thing. I spent 5 months in Mexico as a backbacker when I was 20 so I will be moving quickly down to Panama, Colombia is where I want to spend some time, Mexico is amazing for travel and I could spend months here. Yep my dad has a R100 slash 7, cant find the slash on this keyboard I know that Big Sur is old news but come on guys, its pretty damn nice. But your right, I hope to be pleasantly surprised what I find further south Thanks for the comments guys, stay tuned Whenever I have a few days to chill I will hit up the internet cafes, but not too often... Saludos

Thanks amigo. In that case, I would plan on some time in Guatemala as you head south. Lots of great stuff there. With some effort, you can get off the beaten track in CA if you wish. In Nicaragua the route from Matagalpa out to Puerto Cabezas is an interesting experience. But if youre just passing through CA, there are limited options on through routes as most of the stuff worth seeing would need a little side trip off the main routes. Are you planning a loop through Peru and Bolivia, then into Brazil? I would very highly recommend not skipping either of those countries. The Andes in Peru and Bolivia are absolutely epic.

Enjoy the ride
Want to wish you the best. Bellingham is a great town, but Brazil, well I must say there are probable a thousand of us wishing we could drop everything and complete an adventure to Brazil, or just about anywhere outside North America.
you only live once....

My commute every day. Wish I could have caught up with you. Like to hear the stories of those who broke away, as they come through my hood.

Its an interesting thing that most of the ADVers in Bellingham want to split. My sister lives there and loves it but my solar powered life doesn't allow me to visit for more than 3-4 days at a time.
