My brother Viv passed away today!
Hi all.. as some of you know, my eldest surviving brother Viv died this morning. He has not been well for sometime. I guess a couple of hundred fags a day for 50+ years will do that to you.
But.. he was an ADV rider back in the early 50s. This photo is as old as me.. nearly 60 years! He and my cousin used to go huntin, fishin, shootin and probably rootin on this Ariel. Back in 1953 the family home was at Chermside. The area where Westfield Chermside now stands was all bush. So they would race around there on the bike and shoot big lizards. When the locals on the other side of Hamilton Road got pissed off with them they would head to the bush.. Clear Mountain.. now a housing estate. Viv was a press photographer.. a really good one too. In the 60s he was judged no 7 of the worlds best 10 photographers. And he taught me how to shoot (cameras and guns) how to drive and a whole lot more. He will be sadly missed.

Thanks mate, for that brief insight into your brother & early ADV riding, how times have changed....
May he enjoy all his riding & shooting in the top paddock now.

Although it was expected (last saw him last Thursday) it still comes as a shock when you get the phone call. As a matter of fact Sleepy John was just coming in the front door to bludge a coffee when the phone rang with the news.
