Wicked BMW R100 classic mono 1991 I did it again!

went for some parts for my R100RS Ritmo Sereno project and find a 91 R100 Classic (monoshock) and ended driving her home after the wife speach (another one !?!? why do you need so many if you only can ride one ???? what are you going to do know with this one?)

Now I don't know what to do with her keep her original or do her some light mods

How collectibles this bike are?
What do you know about this model?
Some pics

I have the same bike. There were only 163 of these ever made and only for the US market.
Here is a picture of mine when I brought it home,

Nice .. Classic Black .. love that colour but I am slightly bias there.

Where do you guys find these things ... Such slim pickings here is Oz.

If your missus keeps giving you grief .. just crate it up and send it here ... I would love that as a project .

Nice bike . Do you have recently pics? Do you did any mod or just keep her stock?
Is this model a really collectable piece?

It was a lucky find I was there to pick some parts for my gold 78 RS soon to be a Ritmo Sereno RS and well I saw her and couldn't let her pass.

Now I have the RS project half way, the CB750 on the back almost ready a Imola V35 way far for finish (impossible to find parts) and the R100 it's going to be hard ride and work in all the projects this year maybe I need to take a sabbatical to made some time

I have basically the same bike too although mine started out as an RT. Same color! Mine is modified from stem to stern. Most all of it pretty subtle IMO. Just the other day I was telling a customer where my shock stud broke. He was familiar with the location. I told him that I usually wheelie down that hill and he asked me at about what speed and I answered around 45 to 55mph. He looked at me with a blank stare and asked, "your bike wheelies?" I started laughing. I get that a lot. Way more power than stock helps!

Mine is in the process of being heavily modified.

I'm sorry but all I'm seeing is another perfectly nice BMW, thats going to get "Modified" in ways that almost certainly won't make it a better bike.

I'm absolutely not intending to criticize your skills or ideas but with all of those unfinished projects sitting around, why would you want to start in on a bike that nice and somewhat rare? That era Airhead has had almost all of the "Airhead Issues" dealt with and they're certainly the best handling of the bunch.

Despite my penchant for changing things, aside from servicing and cleaning it, I'd leave that bike as-is and ride it.

Of course, it's your bike!

PS: Nice valve covers bmweuro!

If you are referring to my bike it was a worn out mess when I got it and not worthy of restoring and that is why I bought it and not because it was one of 163 ever made

Here is a picture of mine when I brought it home,

Looks like a monolever R80 with R100 engine and oil cooler added. May be the lightest R100 ever produced.

R100 Classic

Just bought one this past weekend. Paint is a little worn. Pulled out ding in the tank. Little ding in the chrome rim on the light. Looks to be all original except the center stand looks beefed up. The PO put a really nice Ohlins shock on it. Guy was moving to France and didn't want to take it with him. My mechanic has known and maintained the bike since the original owner and I have records of all the work done. The price was cheep and I trust my wrench so I jumped on it sight unseen. After I rode it I felt bad. I don't think I should have taken the bike. I think the PO should have kept it. It is a really great bike. I had no idea they were that rare though. I bought it for a daily rider. My daily ride is my '81 R80G/S which I felt is a little too good for the likes of me and Brooklyn is a little to off road for that bike. I think I might restore this to original (with the exception of that shock, it is so nice) Did it come in any other colors. I like black a lot but my R90/6 Jawa Hack is all black. Like red did it come in red. Any advice or photos welcome. Is the seat with the patterns on your bike original or after market. Mine is the same as yours.
Thank you,
Alfred

I own a1986 R80 converted to 1000 cc so similar to yours. I find this a great bike. BMW did a good job with the mono changing too much might go down the path of dengineering

Hold on there Baba Louey!

Ritmo Sereno project?

You can't just thrown that out there with no elaboration!
