I just jumped on the 300 bandwagon ...

Going to pick up a 2014 300 XC-W from Elite tomorrow morning.

I've read through most of this thread, but I can't seem to find an answer to this question ...

Is there a 3.5 gallon tank for this bike that will work with radiator guards that will also work with the KTM cooling fan?

I could rig up a computer fan like I did on my 530, but if there is something cleaner I'd be happy to install that.

Its gonna be odd going from an overbored 510 4 stroke to a 300 2 stroke, but I think I'll adjust just fine .... I don't do a lot of wide open riding anyways :)

can't wait to get it on the dirt and try it out.

I just hit 100 miles on my 2014 300 XC-W.

I have no idea why I didn't dump my 530 EXC 2 years earlier and get one of these.

This is the best trail bike on the planet.

I even have it plated with double take mirrors and a GPS mounted to the handle bars with the 4.1g tank, so its kind of like a miniature adventure bike :p

Is this thread still alive??? I finally pulled the trigger and I'm on a '12 TE300. I love the bike, but I'll be honest, it feels gutless to me compared to my FE570. The bike is basically stock right down to the yellow spring and no adjustment on the PV. The power is nice and flat, just kinda boring.

How do you rockies guys have your PV setup for high altitude single track? I heard the Mule head will help make up for the huge but controllable torque I got used to on the 570. I feel like the 300 is a slouch and I'm on the pipe way more than I would have thought. I'm told I ride faster now, but I just feel like it's a slouch. What setups are you guys running?

I put the SX head on mine. You should also get your jetting dialed in.

I like mine kind of soft & linear for tractability.

I had the Slavens mill done on my 14' head and it cleaned up the bottom end quite a bit. I still have a bit of a stumble but I attribute most of that to the spark arrestor :)

I totally love this bike

I assume changing the head is fairly quick and easy for the mechanically inclined? Looks like you need to drain the coolant a bit and remove a couple items in the way, but no special tools right?

I am gonna try Slaven's needle ... I have the JD kit in my bike right now with an FMF Q-Stealth exhaust and even with the milled head it stumbles right off idle .... kinda frustrating, but I bet if I put the stock pipe back on it'd be ok

Replacing the head is real easy. Unbolt the frame bracket and the 6 nuts and it is off. There are two O-rings to replace and bolt it back together.

I have the SX head and the ignition box, it is a great upgrade. Didn't get the mule mod only because I am active duty military and if I have to go back to sea level I will have to run race gas, the SX upgrade was enough for me.
