about 18mpg.. not very impressive. there is a guy who claims 25mpg with some radical timing and running 18+ AFR on cruise.

UPDATE

Today I finished up wiring wasted spark ignition setup for the aircooled Type4 Vanagon 2.0L. The spark is much healthier than it ever was, as evident with a healthier idle. I am now idling at 40kpa.

It's time to start building that ignition map that will propel the van for the next 100k miles!

Man, I love this... Soon I will be switching to touch screen tablet that will dock nicely into the ash-tray...

.... Just for shits and giggles...
Code:
3rd Gear
2100 RPM
65% Manifold Pressure (Load)
27.4 BTDC Ignition Advance
81F - Manifold Intake Temperature
113F - CTS Temperature as registered by thermoresistor located on the TempSensor II location

Soon my van will be sporting a custom dash based on the New Lenovo (INTEL) tablet:

Lenovo Miix2 has Bluetooth, microUSB, and GPS, and its based on Intel processor, which means TunerStudioMS will run just fine!

The tablet never worked out, and had to be returned. Several issues; long story short; it had very slow storage, intermittent WiFi even after W8.1 upgrade and driver updates, 32bit UEFI and a 64bit CPU (almost a year later, there is a work around for this), and a very inaccurate GPS that would only work on W8.1 via propriatery API.

Engine, Accessories and Brakes Update:

No news is good news. Couple of tweaks to the air filter. Most tweaks were to the tune files. Trying to nail cold-start, and etc. Almost there. Alternator is starting to weaken a bit. I think it's the regulator or wiring between the alternator and the starter. Going to measure resistance as soon as the van is off jacks. Recently I bought a Chevy CS130D alternator to adapt to the engine, but may hold off on that.

The next upgrade will be LEDs all around, including headlights. Currently the van has two halogen bulbs at 100W, and they suck a lot of juice.

Current project, installing disk breaks that were provided with limited instructions by the person assembling the kit:

It's amazing how easy is to change the pads on these calipers.

Looking good. What are the rear discs off of?
