We’ve said it before, but it bears repeating; the GS handles in ways a two-story building was never meant to.

Taking collections for Faye Butler Training please spare some change.

Remember red and yellow make orange.so to think orange is better means you have to use two steps to get there.

200 miles since the last buck-a-buck-a episode, and it is back with vengeance. This time I filled up a full tank of gas (~12.2gal to full), and a mile down the road it started bucking.

I'm thinking, I either have some kind of plastic or rubber in the gas tank obstructing the outlet, or some kind of strange issue with the gas tank venting. Opening the gas cap, and running the fuel pump, or engine did not fix the problem. Coincidentally, I bucked over to an incline \ facing up the incline, and waited for 10 minutes, and issue went away. Put 40 miles, and no bucking....

The latest news is that the issue is back with vengeance! Complete failure. The van will not start, and when it does start, it runs like shit, missing, and hissing.

Today, when I get off work, I am going to test the fuel pressure, to make sure there is no blockage in the system, and after that, I am gutting the complete upper end to Ohm everything.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. The good thing is, its completely broke, not some dinky intermittent problem. Now we can focus on finding the problem, and resolving it, where as before, the problem would appear, make you stranded, and resolve on its own.

This time, the van is grounded, the problem is there, and now, all I have to do is dig for it.

One thing that I would like to do is build a tap into the harness leading into the Arduino board for future on-board diagnostics, but not sure how that would affect impedance and resistance, and if it would have any effect on ECU.

Chin-up, balls down!

Problem found. Points were arching -- bad condenser, ruined the points.

Good job. Always feels good to find the smoking gun. Ends up being something simple every time it seems.
Leave it to the germans to install fuel injection but leave the points ignition set up. It had more parts than an electronic set up so it must be better, right?

Brand new points.
Brand new condenser.

Same thing! Same problem. I almost started an electrical fire. I think ECU was, and if it was not -- now is, FRIED

This begs the question, proceed to develop MegaSquirt, or go ahead and get 'em Dual Webbers.. The L-Jet is no longer worth salvaging.

I think you are right. Megasquirt may complicate things.

One thing that scares me is the fact I could be having other issues with valves too..

Not to be a dick , but remember what I told you a while back ? Buy a set of carbs and be free of stupid problems like this . The injection parts are expensive and are getting harder to find . Either way , good luck and keep us posted . PM if you need further help .
