OP just took a pic of his GPS. It's what I would do if I didn't have this phone.

I really like the GPS coordinates aspect...opens up tags previously impossible to share otherwise (searchable via Google).

I suppose I could take the picture of the GPS but you guys still have a leg up that can post pictures to the site direct from your phone. I'd have to ride home and load the picture to the site, by then someone else could get the tag, correct? Or am I missing something?

You're right on all counts. You could a) take your chances rather than choosing not to play the game, or b) step up and get a phone that'll do GPS/pictures. I agree, it's kind of an unfair advantage some might have, but it's also 2012 and just the way it is. Unfortunately, everyone is on 24/7 these days.

Yup...that's called "being bruced". Chance we all take

This one's a slow mover though, and a pretty good bet

LOL, I totally understand what you're saying. What are you guys using for phones and what apps do you need in order to post up the positions and load pictures to the site? I've got Verizon service if that matters. I notice some are using AT&T.

Any semi-smart phone with a built in GPS and a basic GPS app would work.
Bob and I use iPhones...that makes it somewhat painless.
The Tapatalk app makes it super easy to upload photos to a thread, as Tapatalk will host the photos for you.

Ok, thanks for the phone info. I'll have to check out the iPhone and the Droids.

Hello from Sunny FL. You guys are telling me that there are phones that can take pictures and have a GPS in them?

Wow, next thing you know we will have a man on the moon!

I typed the GPS coordinates into google and it looks like the tag is in Kyrgyzstan:

http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&sa...ed=0CCIQ8gEwAQ

Might be a little outside the defined region.

You need to enter the N & W. http://maps.google.com/maps?oe=utf-8...ed=0CCIQ8gEwAA

Alternatively, just add a minus sign in front of the West coordinate to put it into Google.
41.816581, -70.638268 will get you to the right spot.

I think the joke's on me today. I made it to Kyrgyzstan and I evidently took the hard way getting there. No, I did not go through the moat but I am a little sore because of all the loose sand, especially on one particular hill. I didn't think I was going to make it up and I was dreading the return trip because of it. Thankfully I met a guy along the way that told me an easier way to get out. And yes, that is ice on the moat.

Because no one would believe me (today of all days), here's the proof.

I should enjoy the ensuing discussion about decimal degrees versus decimal minutes...

Thanks for letting me know about this area. I've been looking for good spots to go. I don't think I'll be raising the bar today. I'll keep the next spot simple.

That is great KTrout! Looks like fun. What did you use to post up that coordinates picture?

Used an Android app called GPSTest. It's a nice, no-nonsense GPS app (no maps, etc).
