The event on Sunday is an open ride day. It's free, but you need to sign an insurance wavier. This is a one time event to recruit new members, and what better way than letting people ride the trails. I believe it's from 10am-4pm. Come on out.

As my preps continue to get the DRZ TAT ready, I installed a tool tube today. I found this guy on Ebay selling brackets which would allow me to mount one of those tractor manual tubes. The bracket is definitely homemade but overall pretty good, I traced it out on cardboard just in case anyone else needs a template to make one for themselves. It was an easy install and fits nicely on the bike, meaning it doesn't stick out much. Now to build the tool kit. I have a few concerns about the plastic tabs breaking off the tube under heavy use so I may make an alternate attaching point as well. One of the other things I plan on doing is figuring out a way to secure the cap so it doesn't come loose and fall off. There is another thread which has a tremendous amount of ideas that others have used to secure the cap so no sense in reinventing the wheel. Here is what the mount and tube looks like, but not on my bike.

I thought you may be interested in making a bracket in the near future.

TAT build continues
So a while back another inmate had a set of Wolfman soft bags and rack for a DRZ for sale which were brand new, it saved me a little coin so I picked them up. Now that I have all this time on my hands I figured now was a good time to get them installed. The rack install went fairly quickly. They are well built but a bit different than I am used to, what I mean is that I am used to racks which hold all the weight. With these most of the weight is taken by the straps on the bags which run over the top of the seat. The bags attach to the racks with a very simple buckle system, and the bags are of a dry bag design so they should work pretty darn well keeping stuff dry. Unlike the Giant Loop I have which has never been waterproof! Anyway here are the rack and bags installed.
![]() There are a lot of buckles and straps which I need to go out and master but overall they seem like they will work well. ![]()

2013 Adventure plans firming up!
Well it looks like Dorito and I struck a deal, should you have to strike deals with your wife, for the coming years adventures. So it looks like in the May time frame we are taking the DRZ and DR out to do the TWVT and what ever else we can do in about 9 days (1 week). Then later in the year probably August/September time frame we will be heading to Canada
to do the Trans Taiga/ St. James Bay road. ![]() We will be looking at 16 days (2 weeks) for that and whatever else we can do in that timeframe. Can you tell I am excited about going back North to Canada.......I AM!!!!!! blaster11 screwed with this post 11-17-2012 at 12:07 PM |
