Since I changed over to spokes I may still have the other bolts in the attic...you are welcome to them.

Any interest in going along on the TWVT 04 - 12 May...even a couple of days?
Would love a DRZ but I've gotten too attached to the DR now. I have a hard time letting things go, I guess I need to ride the piss out of it and try to kill and then I can move on.

You know I have a soft spot for the TWVT but our 25th wedding anniversary falls right in the same time frame as your trip and we may be riding to Vermont/New Hampshire then.

You'll shoot your eye out..Hiding Keys

Mom always told me two things: 1) you'll shoot your eye out and 2) You'd lose your head if it wasn't screwed on

Being that 2) tends to be true from wallets to keys, I am petrified to think I will be thousands of miles from home and lose my bike keys. So, I usually take a spare set. I've always struggled to keep them somewhat away from the elements.

Of the few holders I've used, most are two small to accommodate the big ass BMW key. But, on rev 2 I've finally found one:

DELUXE MAGNETIC KEY LOCKERS by Bell Model #05905

It's unlikely that you will find flat ferrous metal spot to use the mounting magnet. Since space is a premium, it needs to go! You can pop it the magnet off using a screw driver (it's not glued). Then I put the metal cup/plastic liner on the 3M Scotchbrite buffing wheel. The wheel creates enough heat to loosen the glue on the metal cup so you can remove it. Then just buff down the remaining plastic liner to flat.

Once the back is flat, use 3M Double Sided tape to stick it your favorite hidey hole on the bike.

DRZ suspension discussion

Dave...here is a good discussion on setting up the DRZ or really any suspension. Get ready because as soon as I get back riding that is one of the first things I plan to do on the DRZ. I will most likely set the sag before I am riding but the other stuff will have to wait.

Soon...first I have to finish adjusting the clutch, bars, and guards....then inspect the wiring....then the front tire (seems a bit soft at the moment)....

but the real priority today is getting the christmas lights up...but since it's raining...I guess I just have to keep tweeking on the bike

That just makes this crappy weather worse....

So, since I couldn't "safely" get to the christmas lights, I knocked out a few things on the DRZ

Control levers lubed and adjusted
Hand guards relocated to match the levers
Radiator overflow container cleaned out (had a bit of sediment in it)
Rear light housing cleaned and tightened
Chain adjusted cleaned and lubed
Tire pressure adjusted
explained to neighbor why green bike is now blue
pulled all the plastic and gave it general through looking over......but no riding

We are taking the little bikes on this trip. Dana says there are about a half dozen alternates which won't be big bike friendly, "95% big pig heaven".

Also, since they are "alternates", there is obviously a "big bike" track that avoid those sections.
