"Finisher" status only matters if you're after year end points. What really counts is getting out there, being with fellow racers and putting forth your very best effort. You'll find people standing along the side lines cheering you on!

Moto Show

What an unexpected surprise. While the vendors were much fewer this year, there were more interesting vendors such as BMW, NoMar, and KLIM. The crowds were very manageable, and it was an enjoyable evening.

A reunion of sorts:
Lakota, RFlagg, Blaster, J4S, Wreckchecker and Wife

BMW offer a sweet 30% off coupon for parts and accessories, and a raffle for a 3-Day moto course at their South Carolina Performance center.

Thought this guy was interesting..notice the Ducati shirt sitting atop the new HP4

Blaster's get for this evening:

Quote:
Nomar Yellow Thing--PVC Coated Bead Keeper- Super rubberized coating and special design prevents the tire bead from creeping when mounting the top bead. Easily clips in place with one hand - handy as hell! Use with tire spoons or Mount/Demount bar. Solid metal core, very durable. Weight 2 lbs.
Lakota just kept drinking the cool-aide....

A little KLR love..

We all had a happy ending-sushi. Some of us had more than others of us. And others of us still can't seem to get 3 checks with 4 people.

This was dessert...MMMM

If anyone intends on updating the maps in their Garmin GPS at any time, there is a great price on amazon for a gift card for lifetime map updates. It is only $4 more than a one-time map update if bought from the Garmin website, and it is about $35 cheaper than buying lifetime updates from the Garmin website. The concept of lifetime updates seems like a waste since GPSs don't last anywhere near a lifetime (obsolescence or wear and tear will eventually come into play), but you only have to update the maps twice to make this gift card well worth it.

Once you buy the card, go to your Dashboard at My Garmin and you can link the gift card to your GPS, and presto, you can update your maps up to four times a year.

Garmin nüMaps Lifetime North America Map Updates

Harescramble

Not going to make the Harescramble tomorrow. Seems after running a Motor Vehicle Accident call with the Rescue Squad I have irritated an old shoulder injury. Pretty darn sore. I can't take the chance of making it worse and mess up my Alaska trip. I may stop by for moral support!

Love to see you at Wicomico, if you happen to be in the neighborhood!

Two rookie (EB) questions for you guys—do you park in the grass field between the tower and the main street, or do you actually park right up by the tower? And if I were at the tower and crossed the street to ride the short loop, which way is traffic flowing nowadays? Go to right? :)

Being new, I just want to ensure I am doing the right thing and flying straight, now that ground control has cleared me for takeoff.

Try to park as close to the water tower as possible. Mantra seems to be out of sight, out of mind (and keeps the homeowners happy)

Direction of travel is clockwise. As you come down from the tower, cross the street, then left onto the trail (same direction as the fall trail ride)

We had a great time and really enjoyed seeing you all.

Ummm, while Karen and I are inseparable we do still have two houses. Anyway, we are looking forward to riding more this season. The coolest part of the show to me was that Karen liked the pillion seat of the new Multistrada best of the bikes that we tried. Vroom Vroom

So when and where is the Balmo RTE next week? We have some catching up to do!

Roger that. Thanks a lot, Dorito!

I plan to putter across the street for a few weeks and once I 'become one' with the new wheels, I hope to link up with all the big boys and girls on the long loop. :)

Guatemala

This looks like a great time:

I was in Guatemala last March on a Medical mission and fell in love with the country and its people. It would be great to do a trip there. Very reasonable

So AJ and I decide it's a nice day for a ride so we head up into Maryland to harass Blaster and company.
After riding both the KLR and the Adventure...Aj's liking the 990

So we pull into the compound and when I'm swinging down the kick stand I notice my left boot is wet....funny, I don't remember going through any puddles
Then I notice the green colored water on the motor...oh oh..not looking good

So into the garage to take a look at things...
Found a split in the very last tube of the radiator....

So we pulled some more off the bike and then the radiator to see what could be done..

Well, the more we did the bigger the split got...

So called the Mrs. and asked her to bring the truck

On the bright side of things, one it happened in a much better spot then it could have been
and two...over 50,000 mile on the bike and this is the first real component failure...can't complain too much about that

BEST, NON-HOOD ROUTE
Make your best way to I-395, to where it dumps you out near the Inner Harbor. Continue on Howard St. 1 block. Turn right on Pratt Street. Go straight on Pratt Street until you come to President Street. Right on President St. Go 3 blocks, turn left on Eastern Ave. Little Italy is in the block of streets on your left. Find a place to park, walk to Fawn St. Neighborhood is very safe.

Date; Saturday, January 5th? 12h @ 6pm
