Sand School Training?

Been doing some digging on training, and found out the following:

1) BMW Performance Center indicated that they have a new sand-focus course starting this spring. While I am on the "to be notified list", the dates and price are still TBD. The advantage of this was using their bikes, but lest we pay dearly for the privilege. Additionally, there seems to still be quite a bit of strife about the instructor turnover/quality.

2) The Pine Barrens Adventure Camp has set their 2013 dates. Cost is $475/2 days. Day 1 is off-road refresher and day 2 is the ride-about sand training in the Pine Barrens.

Dates as follows:
April 27th &28th Nesco Dirt 101 (First Pick)
May 18th & 19th Location TBA
June 1st & 2nd Nesco Advanced Class
Sept 22nd & 23rd Nesco Dirt 101 (No-go for us)
Nov 15th & 16th Intro to the PB300 (Want to live to see the PB300)...

Currently, the housing is HoJo, but later season classes may be at some sort of lodge. Don't know if that snuggling with everyone in one room or what, or how that may affect pricing.

Thoughts?

In for the sand class on 27th and 28th....woo hooo, probably go back for the advanced class in the summer if I can afford it! I think I will make the HP earn her keep but then again the DRZ would be a hoot.

Joints....are you going down to the Cornerspin class this year?

So who signed up for the motorcycle first aid class?

New to Thread

Live in the Richmond, VA area and wanted to know if there are any good places to ride in Southern Maryland.

Depends on what you are looking for? There are some nice tarmac road on the peninsula. Additionally, there are three fee-for-use facilities, which are well suited for little bikes.
  • The first fee-for-use facility is Eagle Bay and is comprised entirely of single track. It has two loops one 2 mile novice loop and a longer 12 mile intermediate loop. The good peeps can do the 12 mile loop in a hour, I am still struggling to do it in less than 2 hours. I wouldn't recommend anything larger than a 650cc for this place, and 250-450cc is prime.
  • The second fee-for-use facility is Budds Creek. It is a MX track, which actually has pro races there. On the non-race weekends, they do allow track usage.
  • The last fee-for-use facility is Wicomico ATV park. This park has a kids MX track, and novice MX track and 6 or so miles of woods track. They also hold the Hangover harescramble in January timeframe. As an ATV park, the trails are wider here.

Other than that, we end up in George Washington National Forest or Middleburg VA for a some dirt. You might also ask around about Taskers Gap in VA.

Catherders thread linky here is really in prime geographic location for George Washington National Forest riding.

I like how you've claimed EB and moved it to the People's Republic of Maryland.

Since we seem to have hecklers among us, fixed the above statement...
