Bruce,

if it's gonna be my only ride I need something with a wider ratio gearbox. I rode Dennis' 525 EXC yesterday and it could scoot up to 80 no problem (and she had more left). Head shake any where north of 60 though if I was sitting back on the seat. If my nuts were on the tank she held true. On the gravel that thing would spin the rear tire for 1/4 mile. Effing nuts.

I haven't looked up the specs on it but I don't think all the Husky line has a close ratio box. I thing cruising speed attitude is far more important than top speed any day and head shake can be tuned out of most bikes. So it sounds like you are buying a 525 EXC then..... Drink the Kool Aid!

Nah, I don't think the 525 is the right bike for me. Crazy light front end. As Dennis and I were finishing out the ride I came over a little rise. With steady throttle the front end lofted... I looked down and I was doing 77.

I don't think it would work for me as an adventure bike. The road manners are harsher than my tender behind can take.

still trying to see if I can get progressive to buy me a new rim with insurance money. they have been paying phone tag. trying to get the guy today. think it's gonna end up as a fix. it lost two pounds in week since we are home.

As a related topic installed my auxiliary tank yesterday. the 7.1 liter additional gas should keep me from running out .3 miles from the next station, unless they move the stations. will post a few pics tonight if I get internet back.

They delivered the tank pretty darn fast.
