Here's a super fun event.. alas it's in Florida. Maybe next year!

Adventure riders on their own motorcycle will be able to test their skills on a specially-built off-road track featuring ruts, whoops, rocks, logs, sand, mud and gravel. It’s a feature that will prove popular with participants and spectators alike!

I am finally getting a hang of the balance beam and log crossings (flattened pile), the DRZ makes it quite easy I have to say. I quit the only looking forward thing while on the balance beam and started looking down and determining where I wanted the bike to be and then providing that input, not an expert by any stretch but more time than not I am able to ride it from end to end now. One day I will have 6 x 6 and then a 2 x 4 version to practice on, I will never be at the Romaniacs level but I can sure try.

Well it looks like Blooch got banned for something or it's just him joking around and changing his subtitle.

That is pretty cool and way better than a sticker! If you guys aren't reading Gails report you are missing out on some great pictures and nice little stories. If I were to win the lottery, like that's going to happen, I would have to catch him and spend a few weeks traveling around with him if he would have me.

I'm pretty sure the Shane Watts class is not happening. I think they were just looking for interest and determined there wasn't enough with such short notice, but plan on doing something in 2014.

Bummer, I will hopefully see Dual Sport Armory this weekend as they are 'vendoring' at the Shen 500. I'll ask if he has anymore fidelity.

Looks like a bit of change for the S500

Just got this email.....hopefully their route changes aren't too boring compared to what it normally is.

We are ready to roll. The new course has been established. The weather forecast points to excellent riding weather. The Natural Chimneys campground is open and ready. The ladies clubs supplying our lunches are glad we are coming. The government shutdown forced us to create a "Plan B" route for the S500 that avoids forest roads, so we are using county roads. The course is a mix of gravel roads bridged by asphalt - more of any adventure ride feel. We maximized the amount of gravel which is a little less that 40% of the route. Despite all the problems you can bet the food, the scenery and camaraderie will be outstanding. Hope to see you all at the S500! Washington Area Trail Riders - WATR

40% is quite a bit less than normal for sure. The majority of their routes were in GWNF.

I'd say it's a year to take the big adventure bikes.

Or just go off on your own and show up for the t-shirt and meals.
