Looks like a hell of a day, how did you and the bike fair? Mud is one of those things I haven't ridden much of so I don't find it very much fun.....more like

We both made it back to the truck, so nothing terribly wrong with either I will say that a 250cc+ bike would have been nice. That mud just sucked all the power out of the poor little 165.

I have never ridden mud like that as most places I ride are hard pack and just get greasy when wet. Other than burying the bike once in an extremely dug out rut, it was actually a lot of fun.

I'm uploading the video of my 1st lap. It is 30 mins, so its going to take a while.

Didn't even try to ride this AM
fortunately the ice patches I saw on the way in justified the decision

Here are the short answers; no more sleeping boot, I can start transitioning back to a shoe as tolerated, no physical therapy at this time due to the type of injury, no jumping/running/heavy impact for 3 more months, I can start riding the bicycle with tension on it, no elliptical until such time that I can wear a shoe all day. Oh, and he apparently hates Tough Mudder type events. He basically told me to be easy/no dumb stuff for two more months due to the ligament. So I got a lot today but not everything, and that's ok.....it's a good day in Bruce world! Almost ready to ride again!

One of my horse vets from Middleburg, was the attending vet a very prestigious jumping event. In the days leading up to the cross country test, the heavens had opened up and just never let up. The early finishing riders looked much like Gots-A-Sol bike from the Wicomcio ride. However, nary an injury to report.

Anyhow, one rider consulted the vet and asked whether he should ride the horse or withdraw and not risk injury. The vet quipped the safe answer is to bubble wrap the horse and never leave the barn...but then it would probably die of colic anyhow.

I imagine medical docs are much the same cloth and that he would probably never approve of a mud run for anybody...ever.

I have every intention of going to the Warrior Dash in May, I just have to figure out different ways then running to get my cardio up.

Gail info

I got an email back from Gail tonight and thought I would share.

Spent a few days in Pamplona and went to a bullfight on Sunday. That was pretty interesting to say the least. Haven't had time to download the photos, I'll see how bloody they are before I post on my blog.
Made a mad run to Medellin on Monday, needed to get the bike serviced and take care of the VA stuff. The bike slide out on me in Venezuela and my riding pants are pretty much tore up in the seat area. Just some road rash on the guard and right pannier, not bad but it still sucks when it happens. Anyway, the BMW dealer didn't have any in my size and no one else around here has any. I did manage to find a taylor shop during my search that repairs riding suits and they said they could fix the ones I have. I'm going to have to stick around a couple days extra, but hey, it's all good. Beats the hell out of buying a new pair.
No, I don't mind you can asking me anything. Up to this point it's been costing me $83.00 a day. That includes everything, daily expenses (beer), moto services, repairs, tires, new camera and boat crossing to SA. The biggest daily expenses are fuel and lodging. I eat on the local cheap. On average I think I'm spending about $25 a day on lodging. I'm starting to get settled into the traveling life and my daily expenses are going down. I've been spoiling myself a bit. I met a couple from New Zealand traveling two up and they're doing it on $65 a day and living good.
As for security, I really don't see what people are talking about. I've been warned by people in every country about their country and neighboring countries but I just haven't seen it. With the exception of Honduras, I spent one getting through and it was one day to much. Talking with other riders, everyone seems to share the same feeling, it's safe just don't be stupid and go to places you don't belong, areas in cities.
I should be in Ecuador in a couple weeks, I'll let you know prices of stuff. They currency is the USD and I've been told it's very affordable.
I saw a post on ADV from Ride Adventures in Ecuador that do the rental thing. I'm going to stop in and see them when I'm there. The offered up information to anyone passing through. I'll let you know. Any idea who you might go through for bikes. That would be an awesome trip. No worries, just riding! I've been told Ecuador is awesome. Any thoughts on who you will rent from? I love my BIG ADV but sometimes it would be fun to ride smaller and light.
