Wish I had the wifi version, I would have been able to see I needed to dig the hole out more

Figured the sand was soft enough that if they actually ran over it,it would have just been pushed down into the sand a bit.

Nice work on the scrolling banner Chisenhall!

So I sent an email to Gail to find out more about his trip and what he thinks of Ecuador...here is what I got back. It's great to get real time information from someone you know and has experience traveling in places off the beaten path.

Quote:
Thanks for the email, it's always good to hear from you. Yes, I really like Ecuador. It's my favorite country so far on this trip. The scenery is amazing and the people are great, it's very inexpensive here as well.

I haven't seen many foreigner living here compared to Costa Rica or Panama however I suspect that is going to change in the near future. Ecuador seems very stable and foreigners are allowed to own property and business's. The government is putting a lot of money and effort into improving the infrastructure. The roads are very good and getting better. One of the things I like about Ecuador is it's location in South America. The weather is good and you can easily access Peru and Bolivia which I've been told have great riding.

As for Freedom Bike Rental, my opinion, don't think about it anymore just plan on coming down and renting some motos from these guys. Court and Silva are great people and I'm sure you will have one of the rides of your life. My time here has been fantastic in large part because of their help and advice. It's amazingly beautiful here!

My Spanish is coming along, I get by fairly well. I'm laying up in Banos for a few weeks, weather stop, and will most likely take some lessons. Even if you don't speak any Spanish you could easily navigate the country. The people are good and quite a few people speak some English. Ecuador is very tourist friendly so they have lots of patience with foreigners. I don't think anyone needs to speak Spanish in any of the countries I've been and have met many people that don't.

I got everything buttoned up on the Adventure except the drive shaft, hopefully it will get delivered this week. Put the battery in her and even though it hadn't been started in like 4+ months she fired right up.

We've loosely had some conversation about going down a few meals. It seems like 4 or 5 us might want to go down to Freedom, the issue was finding the time. Anyhow, trying to plot when folks might be interested?

Weather: Fun fact: Ecuador sits on the Equator (say that 10X fast!)

Secession Planning

In other news, it looks like the next bike in the Dorito series has been crowned. Of course, the fact that it doesn't exist shouldn't deter naming the beast.

First we had Dorito

Then we had Cool Ranch "Dorito"

Next in the secession will be Flame-As* "Dorito" . Now, what should she look like
