This was after The owner of the property scrubbed up the oil. Glad the Ribbon board and chain stopped us!

Spent the next couple days riding while based at Marlinton Motor Inn. Saturday evening about 1730 we decided to check out some cabins for rent for future trips. The place is called "Jerico" cool relocated Civil War era cabins to rent. As we pulled into the driveway for the main office there is wooden bridge abour 25' long about 10' wide uphill. As we rode across the bridge a plank about 3/4s the way across was a higher than the others. As we crossed that plank the rear end slid about 75d to the left. I didnt have much time to react , but steered into it. At that point the front wheel just pushed to the edge of the bridge.Hit the 4x4 ribbon board and chain guardrail and we were down. I was on my back asking my wife if she was OK. She was holding on and leaning to the high side still seated on the now prone bike. When I went to get up I could hardly stand up it was so slippery with algae with water on top. Busted saddlebag, rear fender, scratched front fairing, busted highway peg and punctured valve cover (oil into stream below) finally we got the bike upright. Got out my tools. Removed the valve cover. cleaned it up and used the JB weld I always carry in my tool kit to patch it up. Let the valve cover sit on the radiator to speed drying. Reassembled and taped up the hole where one of the vavle cover bolts used to belong (aluminum tape is a must for any tool kit). topped up the oil. At least we stayed on the bridge! I kept telling my wife if we had been on the GS we could have rode off the bridge up the stream and on to the next adventure. Rode it home no leaks. About 2k in damage!
Ouch! Glad you two are ok and you had the tools to get it home

2. To ignore an event until the last minute so as to avoid any expectations of attendance, but then show up anyway.

I'm a maybe for the clinic. I'm debating if I should wait, just do it despite my new D606 rear, or if I should try to pick up the Shinko 705 at Fred MS and mount it tomorrow. [I will probably get one for a trip in September anyway]

Good to know..then I won't need to go out in the heat/storms tonight and swap my almost worn out Dunlop back on and risk it not passing the TCLOCS inspection!

PM me if you want to ride up. The Valero on 3 might be a handy place to meet.
