Purely speculation on my part, but why would Triumph come out with a (damn near) all new Speed Triple in '11 if they're going to change it all again two years later? It's not a repli-racer where things change almost yearly. If this is the case, then Triumph wasted *a lot* of tooling costs.....

1) better lights ( I'm sure this will be fixed)
2) suspension (I think they allready upgraded this)
3) SSSA (really like this on the speed triples,so easy to change tires)
4) the rear end ( the up in the air rear seat is what I hated, make it more like the 800's)

dont forget increased electrical power output. what keeps me from grabbing a 1050 right now is the lack of wattage. I ride 2up when its cold. So I need enough to run two sets of heated liners. being able to mount an extra set of lights at the same time would be nice as well.

Triumph seems to this solved with the Explr and 800. Lets hope they follow suit with the 1050.

We'll see huh? I'm getting rid of my '07 Tiger (before values plummet) later this week in favor of another Speed Triple for a year or two. I'll take a good, hard look at the alleged new Tiger when it comes out next year hopefully. I love what I've seen in the two spy shots so far.

The electrical doesn't bother me though. I quit running heated gear a couple of years ago when I went from a Roadcrafter to a Darien suit. That Darien jacket/liner combo is the shit IMHO. And as far as aux lights, go LED. Tons brighter and damn near no current draw. I have a set I just pulled off my Tiger in anticipation of the trade. I'm going to figure out some way to mount them up underneath the Speed Triple's headlights.

Tiger Sport

According to Triumph Project Manager in Motorcycle Sport & Leisure, they put at new engine in the Tiger Explorer as the 1050 triple would not meet the new Euro 4 emission standards in 2016. So they wanted to future proof the Explorer by using a new updated engine that would run clean, and work well past 2016 when emissions kick in.

I would guess if they were to put out a new Tiger Sport it would make sense to use this new 1215 engine, as a reworked 1050 triple would have a short life span.

So hopefully we will see a very cool Tiger Sport, with a kick ass engine, and not a parts bin 1050 patched up unit in which case they would have limped on with the Tiger 1050 until the bitter end.

I love my Tiger 1050, and very much hope they put out a very cool new version. Here is hoping for the best.

Bump time. No new news, but as the new Trophy is a bit of a barge, i hope this bike does come to fruition. Light and nimble with a kick ass motor please Mr Bloor.

Bump - two major shows and no sighting, I guess not a 2013 bike. Shame.

MCN UK has some pixallated shots on their website of the final bike - supposed to be a 2013 - odd then that it didn't pop up at the NEC this week.

Do we really need 4 tigers?

Granted this is more of a upright street bike, but still..

i think the idea of the sport was as a multistada/1190 competitor and as such you would think it would need a noticeable power bump. Time will tell

They dropped the Sprint GT for this? With the Tiger 1200 a success? You've got to be kidding me!

I would think putting the tune from the Speed Triple in would do the trick (close enough anyway).

And decent suspension - my base Multi is fab (that's even with non-Ohlins). I don't understand why Triumph find it impossible to get it right - can't they just buy a Multistrada and figure it out .

Either way I was hoping for a Tiger Sport as a potential second bike.

Had a quick look at the photos in MCN today. SSSA, radial brakes and a slight tweak to the bodywork. Unable to see if the light cluster is any different. Looks like a run out model - like the Sprint GT.

Thats a shame. I suppose it was destined to go that way.

Is it close to the spy pic shown with the rider above?
