AZ: I Found Snow In The Desert

La Nina has given The Arizona desert two crappy winters in a row. Sunday we got our first rain in over three months. Conditions were too good to pass up so I burned up my last vacation day yesterday and went for a solo ride.

Here you can see the snowy mountains looming in the background.

The trail goes through the water in this one.

I found the snow line! Brr! My grip heaters were on high.

About two hours the other direction & I’m now looping back. The snow line is where I was…

Another rocky spot.

where is that? It looks so familiar but I'm not sure. I've lived and worked all over Az my entire life.

The area is Sycamore Creek. The Snowy mountains are the Four Peaks. The loop I rode consisted of trails named, Mud Springs, Dagger, Rattlesnake Pass, Two Gate, West Indi, Itty-Bitty, Skyline, Heavy Metal, Scaryokee, Sycamore Springs to Paintball.

I want to do the Four Peaks ride. I live on the west side and don't get over that way much though. Cool stuff.
