Hey guys,
what's up? Thanks for hanging around - here are a few quick pics from this weekend. it was a lot of fun- and not that muddy, considering that it was pouring all day saturday. That's my incredibly neglected TTR125L and matt's newly rebuilt XR650R ![]() I rode with our nephew on the kiddie track. It's supposed to be "12 y.o. and under" only, but matt thought a 43 year old super n00b would be okay. ![]() ![]() I dropped my bike in the mud a bunch of times on sunday, but matt didn't take any pics. (sorry, sion!) He said it was better to just post the cleaning of said mud... ![]() Matt's brother, Rick, jumping his XR650L ![]() Today I rode with Matt and Rick on some trails. It was scary (I'm such a weenie) ![]() ![]() ![]() Matt thinks it's hilarious that I can go 90mph on the back of the 990, but I'm terrified to go 20mph on my 125... I like this gif of Matt jumping ![]() Okay, that's it! Tomorrow I'll be back in Death Valley mode, I still have some video and a ton of pics. Thanks for reading, you guys - will address comments tomorrow, too. Hey, the noobs are back - did anyone find the booty?? ![]() let me know if you see anything on another ride report... |

Hi Little Wan,
I just wanted to say Thank you for the great RR and the link to the map you used. I ordered mine that same day and it came yesterday. It has altered my finely crafted trip around the country already. It looks like we will see quite a bit more in DV than we otherwise would have. We're looking forward to seeing some of the tamer things you've shown us.Keep 'em rolling, Tom

Hi Guys!
Just some quick waving and then I have a buttload of Titus photos... hi oldone! hi redog1! hi Tn Walrus! thanks you guys ![]() hey ckrockrider - wow, you’ve been a member for almost a year and this was your first post?? woo - de-lurked you! awesome hi Rwelch360 - glad you’re enjoying the RR! linkies are fun, huh? Way more exciting than homework, haha. ![]() Ladybug! Hi! - we’re heavy on boobies, but light on the fuzzy animal pics this time... I think I have a couple for you on day 5 ![]() Quote:
Make sure you look for the ADV booty - I don’t want the cone and the-whatever-that-other-thing-is wasting away in DV.. Hi Rob! ![]() hey Sion, sorry there were no gross muddy pics. ![]() Hi PCK_4xCustoms - you found us! Quote:
hey muskeg - me too! ![]() Madeouttaglass - thanks for responding to Rwelch360 for me, and, glad you got that Tom Harrison map! Thank larryboy for the tip - he’s the one who turned us on to that one. Hi CB160 - aww, thanks for reading! hope it's not too boring. Okay, thanks to all of you guys - these reports are just pointless without readers. I appreciate your comments and enthusiasm!! ![]() Day 4: 3/14/12 Total mileage 246 Part 2 - Titus Canyon Where were we? Oh yeah, we had just finished our Swansea Grade loop. Matt and I were going to cruise by PSR campground to see if anyone wanted to run to Titus Canyon with us. Didn’t see anyone so we kept on going... ![]() Stopped in Stovepipe Wells for cheaper (than PSR) gas ![]() It wasn’t that much cheaper... ![]() Hmm. Better stop here. ![]() Now we’re legit! ![]() The only problem with Death Valley is all the slab... ![]() We’re in Nevada now! ![]() BigWan had stopped in Rhyolite in January, and I’ve already been there a couple times, so we skipped it today. Here’s a few pics from 2009. ![]() ![]() You can see I already made the typical lame jokes, using BigWan's screen name ![]() Anyway... ![]() Ugh, the washboard going up to Titus was worse than ever! We stood up (together) for parts of it, but I don’t think it helped much. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Stopped for a water break (I think this spot is mandatory). ![]() The road to Titus was worse than ever, but the road inside of Titus Canyon was great. Recently graded and much nicer than before. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() We didn't stop, but that's Leadfield up there. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Hey, Petroglyphs! Have we ever stopped here? Neither one of us can remember. The sign looks familiar, but probably from other people’s ride reports. ![]() The sad thing is, I’ve see pics of the petroglyphs (in ride reports), but had no idea where they were. I think they’re mixed in with the graffiti on the rocks near the sign? ![]() Oh well. We did see this later on in the trip - ![]() If “petro” is greek for “stone” and “xylo” is greek for “wood...” Then I believe that was a morning xyloglyph. ![]() Keepin’ it Klassy, eh Senor Peligro?? (you'll notice I refrained from using any linkies) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Okay, that’s it for Titus photos. Matt thought our moms might like a video of Titus, since neither one has ever been to Death Valley. Unfortunately, it was getting dark in the canyon and our stupid camera didn’t seem to focus very well. Plus, we had to go slow so we wouldn't run down any tourists... ![]() So, only watch this if you’ve never been to Titus, okay? It’s pretty dull... How are the tires holding up? This is after, um, 900 miles? ![]() ![]() It was dark by the time we got back to camp. Looks like dinner is canned chicken and a box of stuffing. chicken + stuffing = chuffing. (I decided not to let a bunch of Urban Dictionary pervs ruin a perfectly good word) Priming the stove ![]() And, I remembered to take a photo of Norman the Delorman ![]() Okay, next up - Goler, Mengel, Geologist Cabin, etc... |

hey, how was it? Did you do the whole loop? Did you hit snow?
Also, did you get that Playboy? ![]() it seems like you were our only hope... Day 5: 3/15/12 Total mileage 165 PSR - Goler - Barker Ranch - Mengel - Geologist Cabin - Mengel - Goler - Ballarat - Charcoal Kilns - Goldfish Pond - PSR As we were getting ready to leave this morning, We noticed that Phil’s friend was having some trouble with his KTM690. Matt went over to help with the diagnosis... Mike said it was a brand new bike - only 300 miles on it. Hmm... Turns out the sidestand switch was out of alignment. ![]() Indian Ranch Road ![]() BigWan was in a zoomy mood today, so we started out with some video. Look! We’re finally in the 21st century, music-wise. ![]() I think we got up to ![]() ![]() Approaching Goler Wash ![]() ![]() ![]() Steps? ![]() Okay, how ‘bout a video? Don’t blink! Close up ![]() Matt had some funny comment about this photo, but I can’t remember it now and he’s pretending he doesn’t know what I’m talking about... Something about “a sports illustrated supermodel getting her toes wet?” Oh well. ![]() Sometimes our camera did this weird letterbox framing, but I’m not sure why. ![]() ![]() Mountain Goat? ![]() He had a cute face. I tried to zoom in for Ladybug. ![]() ![]() Hello, Newman. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() We went in here, thinking it was a shortcut for Barker Ranch, but it wasn’t the right turnoff. Creepy. ![]()

![]() If I wasn't so incredibly lazy, I could have taken 5 seconds to google "mountain goat" and I would have remembered what a mountain goat looks like. We saw them in Glacier Nat'l Park. I tried to zoom in closer, so we can see the young Bighorn... ![]() Good pics of Desert Bighorn, here. Thanks again for the correction! I wonder how many others were hiding in that canyon and watching us... ![]() |

That's what tigers do! I LOVE Tigers. ![]() A chuff is a sound tigers make to say hello to each other. They also make this sound just to tell you they're in a good mood. http://www.wulistudio.com/chuff.html Thanks for the pictures of Titus canyon. That's another place I need to go visit. Thanks Wans.
