Hey Littlewan, great report so far. Just wanted to mention the keys. They are absolutely nothing to worry about. They are generic plastic swipe cards, programed every day or every stay. I used to stay in hotels a lot, and I bet I've come home with a hundred of those. They won't get you anywhere once you have left. They don't care if you take them or chuck them.

Yes, I run them as a set. The rear is very comparable to the 908 Dunlop in wear and traction.

They should point one of those at advrider.

Hey BigWan, think the good front tire wear is because the tire is in the air so much?

Hi Bartek!

Wow, Questor - catching some late night informercials? What are you doing up at that hour??

Hmm. I think we weigh too much. Our rear didn't do that well.

Hi B-rod! Yeah, Matt told me the same thing. But, I still wanted to let the motel know.
Hey, while I have you here - what’s that in your avatar? It looks familiar, but I think it just reminds me of this photo:

Day 3: 3/13/12 Total milage for the day 138
Part 1 - Racetrack - Lippincott - Saline Valley Rd - Panamint Springs CG

Wow, I don’t know how Pink Pillion does it. You see pics of her in the morning (ride report) and she looks so cute and put together - camping!
Not me.

When I roll out of the tent I look like I’ve spent the night trapped in a sack with a rabid raccoon.
Maybe I should invest in a hairbrush.
(the clip I wanted for "rabid raccoon" is from Saturday Night Live, circa 1998.
Cameron Diaz as “Dare Debbie” from the View, after Barbara Walters stuffs her in bag with a rabid raccoon.
So, if anyone has that, let me know! )

Where was I? Oh yeah, no breakfast pics. We had our standard coffee and oatmeal.

Today we’re going to Panamint, via Lippincott Mine Rd

But, first, some photos at the Racetrack.
If we were good photographers, we could have gotten an early start to get the pretty morning light.
Or, we could have gone back there last night and gotten some twilight pics.
But, we’re not and we didn’t.

They’re like little ice skaters.
(aww, man. that’s the song I was going to use for the Playboy magazine )

These loopy tracks were my favorite

These guys were cute - they traveled together, side by side.

Waaaay off in the distance you can see the Grandstand...

Too lazy to go to the Grandstand this time.
Here’s what it looked like in 2009. I think it’s pretty much the same today.

Back on the washboard to get to Lippincott.

Finally! Something good

But then we saw some kind of mine stuff.
I only took this pic for you guys, so you have to look at it even though it sucks.

And this one

These look like fresh diggings. Do you think someone is working this mine? Gold is up to $1660 an ounce...

Stopped here for a bit.

Looking back at the way we came

Looking ahead

Might as well snap a shot of the tires. They have about 500 miles on them now.
Front

Rear

This looks like a nice place for an adventure cone

Look for the cairn

Matt thinks this is too much information, but I don’t want that little guy sitting up there for a year.
I want him to find an ADV home, ASAP.

You're welcome!

Back on the road

Pretty overlook.

A little blurry, but you get the idea...

Matt threw this together for me at midnight. First time we’ve used this new stitch software. It seems kinda blurry.

We stopped to check this out. It was nothing.

Looking back at the trail...
Oh yeah. Somewhere back there (when it was steeper) , I was afraid we were going off the edge. No pics.
It was loose and we were sliding around and I thought we were done for.
But, BigWan saved it.

Yay!

Matt thought he saw something interesting, so we went up another trail (just past a little camping spot).
Another nothing.

Looking down on Lippincott Rd

Almost at the end now...

That was fun!
Now we’re off to Saline Valley Road.
Need to get to Panamint Springs for some fuel...

How fun it is to see you guys in action again.

Here is a little video of me in the Death Valley last year, at 30 seconds in the video I was about to turn the camera off and almost mucking dropped the bike, because of one of those mucking loud fighter jets.

Looking forward to more!

WOOAH! I'm a little late to this party, but not too late. Man-o-man the fog must have lifted enough in SF for you guys to find your way out .

Good to see you two out playing on the Katoom. As always full of wit.. keep it up and I am riding along in stealth. Plus up on the tire issue, I too love the 908 but I had major sticker shock this year Went from $113 on Bike Bandit last year to $199 but I see they dropped it by 5 bucks.

Weather is finally breaking up here so, soon.

Keep it up.
