In reviewing the over 48gig of video I shot during the DV rally, I'm choosing to present this little snippet of video first...

This took place Saturday morning. Tim (TBarstow) was leading the ride and was looking for the turn-off. He suddenly slammed on his brakes and I nearly ran into him. I proceeded up the road a bit and waited to hang a u-turn. When I did, I did not execute the turn as well as I expected and ended up on my back...

No Problem dude for the life of me I can't remember your real name shared sooo many beers with sooo many people that long weekend (Wed night thru Saturday night 3 cases) that I ran out Saturday Night TBarstow helped me out with 3 or 4 Pacifico's to finish off the Saturday Night Festivities but I do remember talking to you about soloing it in and you staying at a cabin on the way in (osbourne??)

Inside of Geologist Cabin.

So how does this work? You use those drinks and food free of charge if you need them, and leave there something for the next person in need???

I believe most people use the following protocol. The food and supplies are there for use, but only use if you really have to....as you'll see many are pretty old. After you are done using the cabin and sign the guest book, if you have anything left over from your trip to leave it behind.

I also know that some people will specifically bring extra suppies to leave some behind - or even update expired goods.

the wind was blowing very hard the entire saturday. though not bad enough to ruin the sat night festivity. we found shelter and set up the party area behind the trees and building.

unintentionally, this pic caught pablo and john in a very compromising position....

Awesome ride, pics and reports! I love how you started this ride from the ground up, and its grown into something for riders of all skill levels. Great job, putting on ride is hard work!

I think on our first BUTT ride we had the most-nOOby nOOb you could get: a guy showed up that just finished is MSF riding class before the BUTT ride. He never rode on dirt. He did not have a motorcycle. He arranged to buy a KLR sight-unseen on his drive from Houston to Big Bend Ranch, meeting a guy in Marfa to get the bike. We met him there, and helped him load the bike in his truck, and show him how to use tie downs. So he rode the BUTT, some of the toughest DS riding in Texas, and all the riders were great about helping him out, picking up his bike on the trail, and fixing it at night.

True nOOb spirit in all its doe-eyed wonder. Nice hat.

Thats true rider spirit, and you all have it too! Ride on dudes, and because of people like you nOObs can have a blast, and come back for more!

someone has to start somewhere...just give them a chance...they'll get better, maybe not as good as others...but the camaraderie is always a blast.
