The Ramblings of a Uralogist- a daytrip to Niagara Falls on modern luxury

My first attempt at a Ride Report here. Yesterday the unbelievably great weather continued. At 9 AM I asked Julie if she'd like to have a late lunch on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls. While I've made the ride a few times over the past few years, (Brador runs.) she hadn't been there in quite a few years. With the temps going into the mid 70's the answer was easy to predict. "I'll be ready in 10 minutes!" We took the GL1800 for today's ride.
I'm experimenting to see how difficult a RR is and if I want to commit to doing one while I'm on a cross country ride with our new Ural next month. Looks like I'm going to have to figure out how to not have the pictures in reverse order as I take them off of my photobucket account. Hmmm?
She didn't understand why I needed a picture of what we were eating. (She will have lots to learn on our adventure.)

Here's the bride of 25 years walking into Muddy Waters in Geneseo NY. It was our coffee stop between home in the Finger Lakes and Niagara Falls.

Seeing how we both have lived our entire lives within two hours of the falls, we didn't spend too much time taking pictures of it. I did take this one for the report.

We rode over south of Buffalo and crossed over on the Peace Bridge. The Canadian Customs guy asked where we were heading and told us the best ride to the falls would be right along the Niagara River.
Parking anywhere in the area cost $5-10. Instead we looked for a place with shaded outdoor seating with lots of extra parking. Thankfully Vinnie's fit the bill perfectly. Not only that, but they had nothing but Dean Martin playing lightly. They let us leave the bike there while we walked around the area.

Once again, Julie asks if it really is necessary to take pictures of the food. It was excellent.

I've always loved kitsch so I had to turn around when I spied this being built. I will go back to see the finished product.

Neither of us have any desire to gamble but we wanted to see the inside of the fancy casino that wasn't there the last time we went through there.

Now that the kids have been out of the house we still aren't free to spend more than half a day away without pre planning it.
Why? Two little reasons that we don't mind at all. A video of them going nuts at the door would be much better than these pictures I snapped a half hour after the fact.

That's it for this trip. Posting it was much quicker than I thought. maybe I will commit to doing my RR as we cross the country on our new Gear Up Gobi. We had an older Ural that we both enjoyed. Yesterday's trip was 265 miles in total. Julie says that she's looking forward to thousands of miles in the sidecar next month. Even though she's fallen asleep on the back of some of our previous Wings, neither of us are too worried about her taking a nap in the sidecar while we cross a few deserts.

Good on ya on the RR!

Ah, western NY, or is this what you call upstate? I believe thats what my dad used to say. He was born & raised in Falconer. His playground was Lake Chautauqua. I've never been there, but I hope to track down his stompin' grounds someday. I lost him a few years back.

Nice seeing you out enjoying what must be a warm spring!

Sorry about your Dad. I think you live in a slightly better climate than he did. If you ever come out I'd suggest the fall for the colors. People around his old stomping grounds typically are ending out their snowmobiling season around now. I think we call anything upstate if it's not NYC. Certainly Buffalo/ Niagara is western NY.
