RMX 250 1996 oil help

Hi I have not long purchased a 1996 Suzuki RMX 1996. It needed some work on the brakes which I have done and it leaked oil from behind the flywheel I put a new crank oil seal in which stopped the oil leak I went for my first proper ride today only to find that after a few miles gear oil has been sprayed all over the place, under the fuel tank, over the carb, everywhere, also over my right boot, I haven't owned a 2 stroke for some 30 years, so I could do with some help as to where I should start looking to fix the problem.

Thanks in advance for any help with this

I have had this happen a couple of times and like caryder said, it's oil being blown out the overflow tube. The first time that happened to me it was because the oil seal was bad and the gear box was being pressurised. I changed the oil seal and it stopped. The second time it was because I overfilled the gear box.

My guess is that the oil is overfilled. If your seal is bad it will suck gear oil into the cylinder, not pressurize it.

That happens to me a lot on my KTM 360 EXC. Mine is very particular that you get the correct amount of oil or it will puke it out. Not a big deal, just kind of annoying
When in doubt, gas it out.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I hope I'm wrong but I can't help feeling something is not right. I did not top up the gear oil in case I was over filling it, if I ride round town it seems fine but when I open it up in top I am still getting gear oil all over the engine. If it is just the over filling or venting can someone please tell me where the vent pipe is on the gear box case. I have look everywhere for some place a vent pipe could be connected to the gear box but I can't find anywhere it can vent oil from.

Thanks again for the help
