So we started with 10 of us signed up 22 months ago. We lost 2 a couple of months after signing up. We lost 2 more just a short time ago. We head to the start line with 6 of the original 10. Not bad at all I think.
My wife and I head to Long Beach to pick up the rental bikes and have 6 days to ride up the coast to the start. This will be the most beautiful warm up ride for an event ever.
Looking forward to swinging a leg over the bike and heading off on day one. Not many sleeps left.

I envy all of you guys. This was supposed to be my "big" first event. I am so crushed I cannot go I can't even explain it. Ride safe everyone. Wish I was there

2014 Alcan5000 announced

It's time to park the bike and call it ready. Big freaking pine tree collapsed into the road around me tonight.....I think i'd rather deal with moose and bear!

Ready to go

Packed and ready to load Tuesday morning...
Judging from the entry list, I guess I'm the only 1190 to show up....

Man I wish I could go that light.

My total moto mileage is gonna be close to 8000 miles; doing the rally up, meeting the family who is flying in and picking up an RV; gonna hit the Kenai for about a week with them; then the girls fly home and the 13-year-old jumps on the back of the bike and rides home with me. Experience with the 990 and the fact that we're riding alone means spares and tire tools....

It's sure nice of Jerry to offer to carry all the extra crap for the rest of our trip!

I don't see any extra tires in your pic...

Seeya Friday!

Not in previous years. They score each day pretty late in the evening and pass out results sheets along with the next day's TSD sections. After that the riders are busy noting up their roll charts. It makes for an exhausting 9 days. If they post results, it would be on their website but I don't see a link for it. www.alcan5000.com

bummer. Guess all we can do is watching the spot then.

James aka Blinker152 is on a 990
