I await another fabulous guided local knowledge tour Mr PF
I'd say Matt knows those roads better than me, I just used to go there to preg test the cows & deliver calves, been down a lot of back roads for that sort of stuff.

I'll pm you some time to get an idea of what you're after in regards to terrain. There's some good back roads between Auburn/Mintaro/Saddleworth, but a polite request to some neighbours might see a good loop transpire mainly through paddocks with dirt roads linking it all.

With seeding about to start a lot of country will be soon be off-limits, with lambing ewes on the rest, so we may have to wait until autumn for the pick of it. In the meantime I could put together another loop around/through our place that may tide you over. Or make you fall off lots.

Great read Kym.....I bet the views from the top would've been fantastic.

Looking forward to catching up with the crew on the next jaunt.......got any sandy sections you might wanna try out??

That tight section your talking about Matt sounds interesting.......the 640 is getting thinner & thinner everytime I ride it.

Gotta have a challenge in life I reckon!

Cheers Guys.

This Hester's road is maybe only 4 or 5 km max, and on an enduro bike you wouldn't think twice, but navigating a big bike through the erosion ruts and tree roots is a nice challenge. It's the perfect extension of Taylor's run heading north to the expanses beyond.

Maybe an overnighter could be a idea in May/June, stay in say the Clare Caravan Park - just an idea, as it would allow a few of the riders to do a bit of this..

What puncutres??

Great report as usual MB.
Great ride even if I am still blowing dust out of my helmet. (I could not see much at all towards the end of the ride)
Thanks to all for your patience, I have not had this many flats since my NZ trip.
On a serious note to any one using the Metzler Sahara front 21, it came of the rim within a few meters and gave me very little control once flat. I can only guess I would have gone for a short flight over the bars if it happened at 100+ approaching a bend.

Cheers Tony

Healing time.

Kym, Con and PF, thanks for your well wishes. Layin around in FMC waiting for a CT scan on the spleen this Friday. Hopin to be home Saturday. Ortho Surgen says 6 to 8 weeks before any weight bearing on the hoof, she was hard on the brakes as my foot went under her front wheel (was the car before her that was on the wrong side) . Any way, the Tenere is good as gold cause i was on the Dorsoduro. Although i havn't seen it i believe the damage isn't to bad. Hope i can catch up with youse all soon.
