Went for a Test Ride today

I received and installed my new Power Controller yesterday but did not finish doing something else until today, I put the left side fairing back on this afternoon and it was late when I finally took it out for a test ride. When I started it, I noticed the idle seemed smoother and instead of dying a couple times, which usually happens, it kept running. Running in the lower gears was also smoother. I headed out for the open road and rode out over fifty miles before turning around and heading back home. As I was coming back into Las Vegas, the traffic was heavy and had slowed down a bit. I was in sixth gear and looked at both the speedometer and tachometer. I was doing about 55 and the RPM's was less than 3000. My 1150RTP had never before ran smoothly in sixth gear at any speed less than around 70, yet here it was, running like that was completely normal. The traffic speed picked up a bit and I opened the throttle a bit and the acceleration was immediately and smooth. Best ninety dollars I have ever spent, when adding something to my 2003 R1150RTP!

I keep track of my gasoline mileage on a spread sheet, so shortly, I will know if the mileage has increased, decreased or stayed the same. When I have filled up a few more times, I will have a good comparison of the mileage before and after installing the Power Controller and I will let you know the results. Jim

Not that anyone asked me, but a courtesy response say. The -36C setting is too much temperature offset.

Order placed!!

Looking forward to trying this little beauty out... more importantly, since it's going on my wife's F650GS, she is looking forward to the snatchy throttle being taken care of

Switch Mounting Options

Just curious if anyone has used a handlebar-mount switch for easier access? I was thinking of something like THIS

Recyclizer does not have an external temperature sensor...(it is built into the unit). My Power Controller has an External temperature sensor- that is better... on an 800 the temperature gets very hot under the airbox cover. I tested this with a digital thermometer.... It is cheaper to build the internal...but in the long run when it heats up the effect will be null.

The switch.... One does not need -36 F (-20 deg c) offset to the ECU when the air temperature is above 85 deg F. Only -18 deg F (10 deg c) is needed.

IMO - There is no better tuning device on the market today - and the cost is under $100.

The switch i use is a waterproof single pole double throw switch (in case one would like to change it)

position 1 - -36 deg F air box temperature offset to the ECU (blue position)
position 2 - -18 deg F air box temperature offset to the ECU (red position)
