Overlander 30 Straps?

Michael,

I have a number of Kreiga bags (3-10L, 20L, 30L, tank) and love 'em. I recently put the Rack Loops on my 500EXC and use a 10L for most day rides. I really like the idea of the Overlander 30 for multi-day rides. Is it possible to buy just the Overlander straps and use two US-10's that I've already purchased?

You didn't hear the latest? Michael has talked kriega uk into adopting amazons new drone technology. Expect deliveries in 30 min or less in the near future

1 x US 20, 2 x US 10's and the R25 back pack work well for me on my Nuda!
Could not get the tank pad to happen though. Weird angle airbox and very narrow seat at the front. Just could not get it to work the way I wanted.

Apart from that, very happy!

Man. Don't see too many Nudas about! What a ridiculously fun bike they are! Thanks for posting the pics.

BTW, I'm absolutely sure the US TANK would have fit if you'd had the alternative rear straps (which tie onto the frame in the same way as that tank bag one you have) that can be requested (for free!) for bikes with super-short tanks, such as yours, various dirt bikes and a few other compact / unconventional machines. PM me an address if you'd like to give em a shot.

Enjoy your rides with Kriega!

Cheers,

Michael

P.S. You might want to have a see about the strap arrangement on there... You want the central 'base bag' (in this case the US-20) attached to the rack before you attach the side bags to it (as opposed to having the base bag straps over the entire 'block' as you appear to have there). This keeps the most vital strapping tucked away and puts a lot more downforce on it, enabling a more secure connection as well as easier access to the side bags.

Hey amanlikemike, I was out in the desert this weekend and had one of my Rack Loops come apart, losing one of the thread-on caps (I was able to find the portion with the loop, and the nylon washer and post stayed on the bike).

Is there any way to order a replacement part? I love the system and was, frankly, shocked when my tool bag came up and hit me in the ass! lol

Not sure what's up with my blue loctite, but I'm thinking of switching to the red after this!

Thanks!

Just to be clear, I believe my Loctite may be old and bad; this is the 2nd part I've had rattle loose, and I'm religious about using the stuff. ...I don't think it's an issue with the product in any way, shape, or form!

I'll shoot you a PM now as I'm very keen to get the US tank set up happening on my bike.
Cheers.

Hi mate,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you - somehow managed to miss your post.

Unfortunately it's not possible to use the US Packs with the Overlander strapping. Pannier bags have very different design and material requirements to tail packs for a variety of reasons including that they need more structure due to them being suspended and also they tend to take more hits and so need to be more abrasion resistant etc. Also, the Overlander frameless fit kit uses stainless steel fasteners, which attach to eyelets in the reinforced back plate of the Overlander 15 pannier bags (as show below), so there is no way to securely attach a US pack:

Finally, the extended rectangular shape of the Overlander 15 is better suited to being side-slung, than the more square US Packs.

Your only option for side mounting US packs, would be to see if you could get something like this tank pannier arrangement (farkled together out of 2 x connected US TANK adapters and - in this case - fitted with 2 x US-5) to work on the tail of your 500.

Sorry I can be the bearer of better news, but I still hope this info proves useful in some way.

Cheers,

Michael
