Hi Wasp, thanks for these threads, been reading them with great interest (and in no small part they are guilty of my having more or less decided to get myself one of these bikes)!

A question: do you know what the trail is with the raising links? They're 25mm, right? Just saw in another thread that the trail stock is almost 13 cm, so I figured there would be no harm in shaving a bit of that off, and sitting a bit more magnanimously... plus gaining some ground clearance.

Still haven't done any serious dirt work to write about yet so I will save that for a review when I get a chance to go bush for the day.

I am actually really liking this bigger wheel on the road.
I have the single disc on at the moment. I still have the double disc here and not quite sure which way I will go at the end of the day.

As you may have read in the vendor section in Woody's XT1200Z 21" wheel development thread: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=759952
I have been helping Woody with some measurements to incorporate the ABS/TCS feature into this wheel set.

Makes for some interesting reading so check it out. 5.5kg saving in unsprung weight with the single disc 21" (3kg with the dual disc) compared to the OEM 19" wheel set.

I picked up my replacement R/H crash handle the other day.
The original was destroyed after a number of falls, but I guess it's only fair, it did it's job.

This part in the States is about $US32. Over here the thieving bastards charge $AU89.
I'm sure that Yamaha Aust look at each part and say "whats the most we can charge some idiot for this, before they call the police on us"...

Yeh, I know what you mean, but if most people are like me they would store their standard/removed parts for re-install later.

I am forever chopping and changing my bike - Removing farkles and putting OEM stuff back on just for a change sometimes.

Fact remains that when I buy replacement Yamaha parts in the future I will just order them through the States and have them bagged over. Yamaha Aust are immoral and unscrupulous when it comes to spares pricing so they can f#@k themselves before I order parts of them again...

I would always prefer to shop local "support the industry" etc, but I see Yamaha Aus parts pricing as nothing short of gouging and I refuse to play the game.

Yeh, the US standard ones are bloody Hewwwwwwge. Much larger than our standard units.
The ones on my bike are the Yamaha accessory LED's.
I dont recall how much they cost but you can be assured they were'nt cheep.
I am sure you could find a third party component that would bolt right up for less than $100.
