GPS maps of Mexico?
I may take a solo trip to Mexico in June and think my GPS would come in handy, since my spanish is very limited. I have a Garmin 76c. Has anyone used a program and was pleased? I hope to stay on paved roads. I have a friend who lives in Tlapacoyan, Veracruz. Thanks

I have traveled in Mexico a bit, and as far as I know, there are no detailed GPS maps available for Mexico. THe Garmin World Map is about the best you can get. I have several Mexican Road Atlases that are very good. I would be willing to sell you one. cbx1980@comcast.net

Garmin World Map
I too have the Garmin 76C and have used the Garmin World Map info for 3 different trips into Mexico. It does a fair job of letting you know where you are. The most lacking info is information on the large cities.
I found the World Map info great for the paved roads. The world map has about 2 levels more detail than the base map. I also used a Atlas by Guia Roji. Road Atlas Carreteras cbmwgs screwed with this post 05-01-2005 at 12:56 PM |

Is the Garmin World map of Mexico detail better than the detail you get with the base map that comes on the 76c?

In Australia, WorldMap is almost exactly the same as the Pacific basemap. |
