It might sound like a good idea...until they get bit once and then you have a ZOMBIE dog and cat black belt combo coming after you....

The entrenching tool (e-tool)... one of the most useful things I was ever issued. Sharpen up the sides of that mo-fo and you've got a field ready battle axe. Dig a trench, cut small trees, open skulls. True multi-purpose usefulness.

If I couldn't have that, that tomahawk/hatchet wouldn't be a bad idea.

Theatrical evidence indicates that upon becoming a zombie a (previous) living creature looses access to higher brain function, including control of mobility & of balance. In other words, a "zombiefied" (is THAT even a word?) martial artist, even Steven Frederic Seagal, would then be shambling about, rather than deftly kicking in someone's head and breaking their arms off, before biting into that victim for some flesh.

They seem to get all this wrong in the movies. Maybe that's because dog & cat actors either don't have any perception of how to stagger & shamble, or their trainers are misled, or just being givien poor directions by the director and script writers.

How do we know zombie cats would not just seek out ordinary cats, and zombie dogs be staggering in pursuit of uncontaminated dogs? After all, there is little theatrical material showing human zombies shambling after chicken, living beef, or trout. So, the un-natural food is diferent from natural food, or traditional hunting fare. Therefore if human zombies turn to living humans . . . to take a bite -- maybe dog zombies seek living dogs, and zombie cats seek living cats!?!

But are we all looking at this with poor judgment? These are all tools, or weapons, to carry and get in our way . . . to make some barriers to our flexible mobility. (We can ride through gaps too narrow for cars & trucks.)

We are motorcyclists, are we not? Can we not simply use our excellent means of mobility . . for more?

Can not we employ our very motorcycles . . . as weapons also?

I always thought that the jutting rocker covers of a type 247 motor BMW (airhead) with euro bars were almost knee-capping weapons just slightly less deadly than Ben Hur-type spinning hub blades!

What effect does a spinning rear wheel circulating about locked front double discs, have on close bystanders?

Or if one prefers a car to a motorcycle, there is this offering from Hyundai:

Hyundai prepares for the apocalypse with Zombie Survival Machine

Quote:
Its an actual concept car designed to mow down the fearsome hordes of undead brain suckers. It's called the Zombie Survival Machine, and it looks exactly like what it sounds like. Hyundai has partnered with Robert Kirkman, creator of the famed comic book and graphic novel The Walking Dead, in building the concept.

The design includes such customized features as a custom zombie plow with spikes, slatted armored window coverings, a roof hatch to allow passengers to shoot at walkers, an electric rear trunk to house weapons, all‐terrain tires, weapons storage compartments and a CB radio/PA system.

the guy has a great line in the video. He would go from group to group asking if anyone needed a comic book writer!

Just to recap, ARMA2 is a PC game, which has very hardcore settings compared to regular First Person Shooter games. Some people call it a simulation, but really its just a hardcore FPS.

One person, decided to take that game as a base, and create an add-on to it, called DayZ.

So when you enter the game, you are spawned in a random location on a big island. Zombies are PC controlled, while players are all humans. You start with a flash light, some bandages, and thats about it.

The goal is to survive. Wonder from village to village, looting. You can find ammo, guns, food, drink, meds, tools, you can fix the cars, etc etc.

Its a fully open world.

Oh, and when you die, you die. You exit the game, loose any loot you found, and have to come back as a brand new character and start from scratch. One bullet usually does the trick.

Now here is the interesting part.

We all talk here about being prepared to fight off zombies. Well, from playing this game, with mindless zombies, but human players, I have to say that humans are far more dangerous than zombies. You will get killed more often by a human, than by a zombie, and its usually over a can of beans.

So I'm now questioning, if we should prepare ourselves more against raving lunatics, and gangs that would populate such a world, rather than zombies. Hehehe
It a disaster, social conformity and ethics are gone, and survival will not be as clean as most of the "tongue-in-cheek" humor being exchanged here. You make a very good point, for those who are really focused on survival. There is a lot of interesting information in Charles Dickens "A tale of Two Cities" as well as other works that descibe the break down of society. Scary shit.

It has to be tongue in cheek. It is too terrible to think it could be real. But I do think things are going badly. At least for those who are aware. But for people where everything is great, I am sure it is.
