I must be touched - Yamaha DT360
Hey all!
I'm going to look at a 1974 DT360 this weekend. It's had all the lighting stripped off it and I assume the wiring as well, but the owner has the "headlight." I don't know if it's just the bucket and lens or the whole kaboodle. It's showing 2800 miles on the odo which I don't believe. The guy is asking $850 (for argument sake, consider USD and CAD at par) "firm." What I'm looking for is an "unimproved" road bike to complement my old BMW. I want to learn some dirt skills, while not being out a bunch of $$$ on a new machine. Also, one I can fix. Preferably one I can ride from my garage to the "trail" without being chased by the local constabulary! And, if truth be known, I miss the old Yamaha 2 stroke ring-a-ding-ding-ding of my first motorcycle! ![]() So, what's the collective's thoughts? Run far, run fast? Snap it up? Check myself into the psyche ward?

There is a stripped 74 by me on craigslist for $2800 which is insane. The 74s are nice bikes. First year for the new pipe. 850 ain't a bad price if it's low mile.

Oh, my old DT 400 is still in a box somewhere in the wilds of Scotland. Shame really, it was a reliable runner when I sold it, my mate put a TDR 250 front on end on it & than decided to do a major over haul & ended up running out of cash. Surprisingly all the parts were still available.
If that is the same for the 360 I would do it. They are iconic bikes. |

Should be a fun and cool bike, do a leakdown test to see if the crank seals are leaking.
